hmmm kind of upset by this news, not really into the whole "rapala" brand, I have seen there quality dip and prices go up over the last decade, hope they won't do this to Strikemaster and they leave them alone in Big Lake, otherwise I will be looking else where for my next auger next season

One of the main reasons I bought a Strikemaster auger was that its HQ was within easy driving distance if a repair was needed, and I like supporting local companies. Here's hoping that won't change after this buyout.

+2!!

This was one of the big reasons for me as well.

I dont know.. Im fine with it... I do like little mah and pah owned companies. But I say lets give Rapala a chance.

Im a fan of both MarCum and Rapala... and strike master for that fact.. So, I wish them the best of luck and will continue to buy their products..

I totally agree Dietz.

This could be a great mix as Rapala is a proven successful company.

My concern is that Rapala seems to be buying up/getting into many different segments of the fishing market and driving up the prices.

Have you seen the cost of original floating rapalas lately?

Like most things that are Rapala as of late - more sizzle than steak.

It seems that Rapala is a decent company, but I definitely have some concerns moving forward.

Time will tell.

I guess I didnt read as much into it as others have. Though Rapala acquired Strikemaster, they just have an agreement with Marcum to market and sell their products. I havent read anywhere that says they acquired Marcum's assets.

A business partnership of sorts and this happens all the time. Based on that I dont see any impact to Marcum, positively or negatively from a product standpoint. What you might see is that Marcum can actually use Rapala sales channels to get their product in more places, but it didnt mean that they were acquired by Rapala.

  • we are 'the leading edge' HSO Creators

Not sure how the field just shrunk?

Still the same number of ice fishing depth finder companies as well as the same number of Ice Auger Companies?

It was just announced that Rapala has just aquired Strikemaster and Mora Brands. This just follows them making an exclusive deal with Marcum. Id say they really want to make a big splash in the ice fishing market. What do you guys think of the deal?
