Would you rather...

Crappies

1. Catch 60+ fish under 7.5"

2. Catch 20 fish from 7.5" to 10"

3. Catch 5 fish 10" to 13"

4. Catch 1 fish over 13"

Walleyes

1. Catch 30 fish under 15"

2. Catch 15 fish 15" to 17"

3. Catch 6 fish 17" to 23"

4. Catch 1 fish over 23"

Northerns

1. Catch 10 fish under 24"

2. Catch 6 fish 24" to 28"

3. Catch 2 fish 28" to 34"

4. Catch 1 fish over 34"

A few rules:

Stay with the choices. (no mix match to make your perfect day!)

Assume that your last choice in each category wouldn't be the state record!

Explain your answer if you wish. Would love you hear your thoughts!

Walleyes-6 fish from 17-23. I do not keep eyes over 20 but this would give me a couple for a meal and a couple more to enjoy the tussle.

Crappie, catch 5 from 10-13. A meal of 4 crappie works for me.

Pike, catch one over 34 as I like the larger pike for the fight. I do not eat pike so the amount does not matter.

for crappies I would take 3 even though it would perplex me why I only caught 5 but they are good size so it would give me hope for a better day with nice fish.

for walleyes I will take option 2 as 15 eaters in 4 hours is a good day and hopefully someone is with me that day and they get skunked!!

and northerns I would take option 4 and hope that it was in the 40" range as that fight can be worth all the downtime it took till it bit!!

Crappies #3

Walleye #2

Pike #4

Under a 10 inch crappie isn't anything that should be eaten. 15 Walleyes in that perfect eater range would be hard to pass up for any reason. A 34 inch pike is becoming a fabled creature and I would have to take the chance that it would be a true trophy fish. (40+)

Crappies: #1 60 crappies would be a blast in 4 hours. I hardly keep ANY fish. 15 7.5"-10" to me is no different then less then 7.5". Crappies larger then 10" are fun but one every 45 minutes is way to slow.

Walleye: #2 Again, I don't keep fish often so all going back. Walleyes are a blast to catch but smaller then 15" is pushing it for size and fun. 15 nice walleyes in 4 hours is what I would consider a great day of fishing.

Northern: Love catching northern through the ice and none of those sounds like somehting I'd enjoy in 4 hours...so I'll go with #4 as that would be right up there with my largest ever!

Since my ice fishing gear hasn't seen ice in 3 years due to family and work...(mostly the family part...and I am not complaining) I think I'd be happy to head out on the ice and be perfectly content drawing #'s out of a hat.

I'd have to probably say I'd agree with Leech also and go #2 across the board....and if my 3 yo daughter is with....I'd toss in #1's to get her excited about ice fishing and maybe she'd want to join dad in the future.

Crappies I'd have to say #2. But only if they were all 10". One 14.99" walleye every 8 minutes would be ok I guess, so I'll go with #1 there. #4 for one northern over 34", as long as it's 40+(far from a state record BTW) Sorry Leechbait, a few 24"ers just couldn't match up to that. Maybe for pure action, but when I watch tip ups it's usually done in between cribbage hands, so one C&R slimer is plenty for me. Besides, I'm getting too old to be chasing that many flags.

    • I grilled some brats yesterday, maybe next weekend will the next round...
    • You got word censored cuz you said        B o o b ies….. haha.   Yeah, no… grilling is on hiatus for a bit.
    • Chicken mine,  melded in Mccormick poultry seasoning for 24 hours.  Grill will get a break till the frigid temps go away!
    • we had some nice weather yesterday and this conundrum was driving me crazy  so I drove up to the house to take another look. I got a bunch of goodies via ups yesterday (cables,  winch ratchet parts, handles, leaf springs etc).   I wanted to make sure the new leaf springs I got fit. I got everything laid out and ready to go. Will be busy this weekend with kids stuff and too cold to fish anyway, but I will try to get back up there again next weekend and get it done. I don't think it will be bad once I get it lifted up.    For anyone in the google verse, the leaf springs are 4 leafs and measure 25 1/4" eye  to eye per Yetti. I didnt want to pay their markup so just got something else comparable rated for the same weight.   I am a first time wheel house owner, this is all new to me. My house didn't come with any handles for the rear cables? I was told this week by someone in the industry that cordless drills do not have enough brake to lower it slow enough and it can damage the cables and the ratchets in the winches.  I put on a handle last night and it is 100% better than using a drill, unfortatenly I found out the hard way lol and will only use the ICNutz to raise the house now.
    • I haven’t done any leaf springs for a long time and I can’t completely see the connections in your pics BUT I I’d be rounding up: PB Blaster, torch, 3 lb hammer, chisel, cut off tool, breaker bar, Jack stands or blocks.   This kind of stuff usually isn’t the easiest.   I would think you would be able to get at what you need by keeping the house up with Jack stands and getting the pressure off that suspension, then attack the hardware.  But again, I don’t feel like I can see everything going on there.
    • reviving an old thread due to running into the same issue with the same year of house. not expecting anything from yetti and I already have replacement parts ordered and on the way.   I am looking for some input or feedback on how to replace the leaf springs themselves.    If I jack the house up and remove the tire, is it possible to pivot the axel assembly low enough to get to the other end of the leaf spring and remove that one bolt?   Or do I have to remove the entire pivot arm to get to it? Then I also have to factor in brake wire as well then. What a mess   My house is currently an hour away from my home at a relatives, going to go back up and look it over again and try to figure out a game plan.           Above pic is with house lowered on ice, the other end of that leaf is what I need to get to.   above pic is side that middle bolt broke and bottom 2 leafs fell out here is other side that didnt break but you can see bottom half of leaf already did but atleast bolt is still in there here is hub assembly in my garage with house lowered and tires off when I put new tires on it a couple months ago. hopefully I can raise house high enough that it can drop down far enough and not snap brake cable there so I can get to that other end of the leaf spring.
