10 years of Leading Edge

Had a hard time deciding where this post should go, but the ice fishing forum seemed appropriate.

Just realized that as of earlier this month, I've been registered to this site for 10 years. 10 years! I can count on one hand the things I've been doing for 10 consecutive years. It was a decade ago that I stumbled upon this site looking for the latest in ice conditions. Since then, it's become a heckuva lot more.

Admittedly, I've done a lot more reading than posting, but in that time, the people and information on this site have helped me pick out a hunting dog, take up bowhunting, find fish on an unknown lake, kill time, communicate concerns over conservation, and just generally make sure a guy locked in a metropolitan life can stay true to his sportsman roots.

Just thought I would take the opportunity to thank those who make this site possible and the people who make it a truly special resource.

Cheers!

I had my 10 year a couple days ago. Seems like yesterday I was looking for some fishing reports and found this site. Its been a great 10 years. It interesting to look back on some of the posts I've made. Maybe Rick needs to come out with an HSO 10 year veteran hat.

I was looking for ice conditions as well when I stumbled on to this site. I was a freshman living in the dorms in Bemidji wanting to see where to head out on Upper Red. Man those were the days. I have gain a wealth of knowledge from this site from fishing to hunting to auto repair. I like reading about people like me. Here's to another 10 years.

I've been here for a couple of years now. I've met some guys on this site for the first time this winter, and I've learned a lot from them already. Hopefully I'm able to help others a fraction of how much I've been helped. It's funny...I come to this site with questions on just about (but not) everything. Got a problem with my car? HSO. Question about mushroom identification? HSO. Ice conditions on Mille Lacs? HSO. Buying a new kevlar canoe? HSO. It's amazing how much information is here on such a wide variety of topics. Just my .02.

Proud member for almost 11 now and what a great source of information in all aspects.

Rick,

Instead of gifting out hats (which would really be awesome).

Design and sell them with some personal information on them.

Like the Logo on the front, call name on the back and something to the fact of Proud member since XX/XX/XXXX either on the side or under our call name.

Could make both stocking and baseball style.

Just an idea.

i have been on here since May of 2010. still a rookie. honors go to Harvey who has given some great advice. i would think there is enough money somewhere to get this guy a hat. good luck.

Thanks for the kind works.

I will say this, over the years I have learned alot and hopefully helped others out at the same time.

Been highs and lows but I do truely enjoy HSO and all of it members. I have fished with many of the members and enjoyed all the new friendships made here.

It's hard to believe I have made over 28,000 posts between my 2 user names. Must be alot of B---S somewhere on HSO that I have made.

I also would like to say thanks to Rick for starting this site for all of us to learn and enjoy. From joining Fishing Minnesota, to being a Pro Staff and a Admin and working closely with Rick, it has been a fun filled 9 years.

Great bunch of staff also which really helps this site run as smooth as it does.

This is kind of a work in progress (and it's going to take a while), but those of you with 10 years of "having more fun" behind you will have a little surprise in your profile options.

You will have to enable it in order for it to appear.
