WE are pretty plain and simple. Friday night is brats on the grill. Saturday night is always into Hackensack to have pizza and watch the Gophers hockey game if its on, Sunday night is usually chili and old fashioned hotdogs with beers. LOTS of beer if everyone is already filled out!

Oatmeal for breakfast, granola bar for lunch, and some sort of Mountain House dehydrated meal for supper. River water with a little Crystal Light to wash everything down. That is it until the first deer is down, then tenderloins/heart/liver/backstrap taste real good over the fire.

PORKETTA...and lots of it! and not the cities porketta, the good 'ol Iron Range porketta. hot, cold, with mayo, without mayo, bun, bread...ummmmmmmm porketta!

Come to think about it, I may not even have time to hunt because I'll be to busy stuffing my face with porketta.

ok....forgive me....but Porketta???? never heard of it?

If you drive through Virginia, MN stop at festival foods and go back to the meat section and ask for it. Slow cook it in a crock pot for 8 hours, shread and eat it...ALL! LOL

Some other shops carry the good stuff too.

Peanut Butter on toast in the am, that will stick to ya for a while. Then a big breakfest around noon. Then a hot dish / Pot Pie / Venny / pasta for dinner. With the good ol' pork chop in a can before and after dinner.

I'm not sure if Duluth carries. some places carry it but it's not the true "iron range" version so be carefull or you won't experience true porketta!

Try "fraboni" .com Never tried theirs but since they are on "the range" it is probably the good stuff!
