ThermaCELL Mosquito repellent

They are the cats meow when dealing with the skeets. Used mine with the earth scent last fall and made for some enjoyable sits on the deerstand with my daughter. Used it this past weekend while up the Gunflint trail and like Steve said, "good on skeets, not so much on the flies."

Has anyone used these? How do they work?

Hey buddy, looking to pick up a few for the patio in the next few days myself. There is a recent post in the equipment information section of the forum, have not heard anything bad about them.

the only bad thing about the little lantern is that it get turned off if bumped or picked up since there is a kill button on the bottom of the lantern but the other ones won't stop burning unless turned off or run out of butane

Just picked up an Off clip-on today. With the coupon for a free refill pack (2 refills in 1 pack), only cost me $8. Should last 36 hours. Now the question is will it work, I hope so.

I'll give it a try this weekend.

My wife now officially thinks I have lost my mind...I asked for a ThermaCELL unit for fathers day. Her reaction? "You want us to give you mosquito repellent as a gift? It costs HOW much? "

This stuff better work so I can finally have the opportunity to hear her tell me I was right. grin

lets just say us catfish guys swear by them. I got mine last year at the end of the season so I had to wait for this year to try it out but since we had all this weird weather this spring I have only had limited amount of time to fish. during the times I did get out the bugs where not out yet so I didn't get a chance to try it. I will forsure have it with me at the end of the month when I go down to the minnesota river to do some fishing over my birthday.

Sorry to say but the thermacell isn't too effective on flies.

IMHO, Off Clip-on, Skeeter Patches (from Cabelas), and Citronella/Lemon Grass candles are pretty much a waste of money. Either that or these river skeeters are an abomination of nature.

Just a head up FYI for ThermaCell fans. They will go on sale in the new Gander Fathers Day ad that is starting today. I believe the refill kits and fuel cylinders are also included on sale.

ThermaCELL Mosquito Repellent Appliance with Bonus LED Swivel Light now $24.99..(reg $39.99), save 15% on refils.

Tried the Off Clip On this weekend. I thought it worked better than I expected. Any time the wind kicked up or if I was moving along at a good pace, I still got bit. If I was not moving, I don't think I got bit once. Worked really well out in the boat after sunset when I'm normally getting chewed on pretty good. They buzzed me, but they would not bite.

Thermacell might work better, but I was pretty pleased with the Clip On. Was only a $8 experiment for me, and should easily last through this warm weather season (with free refill pack).

I had an interesting weekend. Spent a few nights at the cabin, and have never been able to fish off the dock after dark because of the mosquitos. I got a ThermaCELL, my dad brought the OFF clip on.

Night one, we tried the clip on, and fished for about 30 minutes, swatting mosquitoes the entire time, we got bit up pretty bad.

Night two, we tried the thermaCELL, for about 20 minutes there was no difference at all, then it was like a switch went off...no more clouds of mosquitos...there was still the occasional ear buzzer and a bite from time to time, but it made fishing at night bearable for us...

I am sold on these things!
