About seven or eight years ago there was really really late ice. Leech Lake was actually nearly all unfishable on opener. I was driving up there after work the Friday before opener and KFAN reported that the DNR had delayed the opener due to the ice. They went on and one for nearly an hour and my buddy and I discussed what to do. I bought it, my buddy and I turned around and headed back to MPLS and about two miles after our turn around they fessed up that it was a joke. There's a sucker born everyday, I was the one that day.
