Hope I dont jinx the guy but he sure does look awesome. I hate to say he looks as good as he did in 06 but it is getting to look like that may be the case. His slider is filthy and his fast ball is climbing back into the 93-94 range. Hope he can keep it up all year. Go Twins, and go Liriano!!

I don't think there is a bigger story this year for the Twins than this. He was a blast to watch in '06 as he bewildered hitters, and he's been doing the same this year. He's really solified the rotation this year.

Remember our #5 spot last year? I felt like they were going to call up guys straight from class A ball next.

How long do we have him for? Because if he stays consistent we have 0% chance of keeping him, meaning we need to trade him to get some goods in return before he leaves.

Gomez and Casilla type trade? Woohooo!!!!

To me this was as good a start for Frankie as he has had...

He pitched 7 innings when we needed a starter to go deep. He didn't panic when the 1st inning went poorly and HE told Ramos to call more fast balls. He seemed to be a real "ace" in that he wanted to stay in the game when the pitch count mounted and he said just let me take care of them. To me that was the real nice thing to see. If he can get the mental part down... the physical skills are there.

A good pitcher wins when he has good stuff and this is most of the time. A great pitcher wins even when he has mediocore stuff. Now I am not ready to call frankie "great" but that was how the great ones do it. It was nice ot see none the less.

Liriano. 23 consecutive innings with no runs. 24Ks. 3 wins. Wait, didn't Grienke start last year's first 24 innings with a 0.00 ERA. What did he win last year? I'm just saying.

And the Twins, unlike the Royals, can actually offer some run support so his win total should climb higher than Greinke's if he stays on this tear.

Most impressive to me is not the three shutout games, but rather how he responded to getting beat up in the first inning of his last start. THAT is what a great pitcher does...don't panic, just settle down and go deep into the game, trusting your stuff and staying aggressive with the fastball--last year when he got in trouble, he would have panicked and thrown 60 consecutive sliders for 8 ERs and ten BBs over three innings and been out the door. This positive outcome simply never would have happened last year. To me, this last start truly made Liriano relevant again.
