Where do you all primarily do your ice fishing shopping at?...Cabelas, Gander Mtn, Thorne Bros....somewhere else? I just been looking for the best prices. Planning on picking up my gear this weekend maybe. Thanks!!!!

PS: I won't tell your wives/girlfriends/husbands/boyfriends where you spend all your money :-)

I buy most of mine on line, I look for deals, then buy it all year long. The outdoor pro store has some good deals going all season. Although that wont help you in a short notice. Besides that, it all depends on what kind of gear you are looking for.

hit up gander mtn soon, they are transfering over to open water stuff already. so they are cleaaring some of there store branded products. I also find that Fleet farm has good deals through out the year. dont buy anthing not on sale unless its a for sure hot seller producer.

IE: I buy husky jerx for a lake up north and dont even bat an eye at the price becuase they work great up on that lake. getting them on sale is like candy for me. I buy the whole peg if they are on sale.

These are some links to a site and forum right here on HSO that offer some quality items. The shipping usually is pretty quick also - since you said "maybe" to shopping this weekend. wink

FF is usually my number one choice to get anything hard or open water related, especially boat supplies/accessories. no other store can beat FF's prices. it seems like their rod/reel combos are always on sale. this time of year is great for getting really good deals on open water rods.

i do go to the big C store when i have a gift card or if i feel like browsing for a hr or two. then i figure out what i need and but it at FF

I’m a Fleet Farm guy when I know I have a bunch of things to buy, or if I can only find it there, otherwise I’ll pick up my odds and ends at a local mom and pop while I’m stopping for bait.

I almost always ask and pick up a couple of the hot jigs at the local bait shop/resort. They may cost a little more, but they are the local pro's!

If I was starting from zero I would go to FF. Since I am not I shop ahead & hit the year-end clearance sales at all of those places. The nice thing about ice fishing is that once you have your basic setup you really don't need to spend a lot more unless you want to.

I do try to buy at least one extra thing (pack of jigs or whatever) when I am at the bait shop.

for bait and the small item stuff always always the local bait shop!! spend $10 and get good tips and you help out the local guy. I might save $3 driving all the way to ff or C, but it gives me more pleasure helping out the local guy who will tell me where the bite is on!! Cheap will only get you so far...

I buy 99% of my goods in my home town shops. They are always there to help you out when you need them and the service cant be beat. I dont know what I would do without Marine General, Fishermans Corner, The biat Box and Chalstroms. When I need something one is always on the way and I can usually get as good if not better prices buying local.

With the economy as it is its even more important to buy local these days!

I too just became a fan of Fleet Farm. I never realized they had such a large selection and their prices are way better than I expected. Cabela's is very expensive and usually way out of the way for most. I went there to buy my Pop-up because of the Employee Discount Coupon and the fam and I were going that way anyways. I like to find the deals, but not going to drive 60 miles to get it unless I have to go that way anyways...and since I am in Sales and travel all around the metro and make it convenient. However, I don't buy that much stuff...

Not sure how many shop at the places because they are the closest?

One way trip:

Gander Mountain = 5 miles

FleetFarm = 11 miles

Thorn Bros = 22 miles

Cabelas = 42 miles

    • By The way that didn't work either!! Screw it I'll just use the cellular.
    • It’s done automatically.  You might need an actual person to clear that log in stuff up.   Trash your laptop history if you haven’t tried that already.
    • 😂 yea pretty amazing how b o o b i e s gets flagged, but they can't respond or tell me why I  can't get logged in here on my laptop but I can on my cellular  😪
    • I grilled some brats yesterday, maybe next weekend will the next round...
    • You got word censored cuz you said        B o o b ies….. haha.   Yeah, no… grilling is on hiatus for a bit.
    • Chicken mine,  melded in Mccormick poultry seasoning for 24 hours.  Grill will get a break till the frigid temps go away!
    • we had some nice weather yesterday and this conundrum was driving me crazy  so I drove up to the house to take another look. I got a bunch of goodies via ups yesterday (cables,  winch ratchet parts, handles, leaf springs etc).   I wanted to make sure the new leaf springs I got fit. I got everything laid out and ready to go. Will be busy this weekend with kids stuff and too cold to fish anyway, but I will try to get back up there again next weekend and get it done. I don't think it will be bad once I get it lifted up.    For anyone in the google verse, the leaf springs are 4 leafs and measure 25 1/4" eye  to eye per Yetti. I didnt want to pay their markup so just got something else comparable rated for the same weight.   I am a first time wheel house owner, this is all new to me. My house didn't come with any handles for the rear cables? I was told this week by someone in the industry that cordless drills do not have enough brake to lower it slow enough and it can damage the cables and the ratchets in the winches.  I put on a handle last night and it is 100% better than using a drill, unfortatenly I found out the hard way lol and will only use the ICNutz to raise the house now.
    • I haven’t done any leaf springs for a long time and I can’t completely see the connections in your pics BUT I I’d be rounding up: PB Blaster, torch, 3 lb hammer, chisel, cut off tool, breaker bar, Jack stands or blocks.   This kind of stuff usually isn’t the easiest.   I would think you would be able to get at what you need by keeping the house up with Jack stands and getting the pressure off that suspension, then attack the hardware.  But again, I don’t feel like I can see everything going on there.
    • reviving an old thread due to running into the same issue with the same year of house. not expecting anything from yetti and I already have replacement parts ordered and on the way.   I am looking for some input or feedback on how to replace the leaf springs themselves.    If I jack the house up and remove the tire, is it possible to pivot the axel assembly low enough to get to the other end of the leaf spring and remove that one bolt?   Or do I have to remove the entire pivot arm to get to it? Then I also have to factor in brake wire as well then. What a mess   My house is currently an hour away from my home at a relatives, going to go back up and look it over again and try to figure out a game plan.           Above pic is with house lowered on ice, the other end of that leaf is what I need to get to.   above pic is side that middle bolt broke and bottom 2 leafs fell out here is other side that didnt break but you can see bottom half of leaf already did but atleast bolt is still in there here is hub assembly in my garage with house lowered and tires off when I put new tires on it a couple months ago. hopefully I can raise house high enough that it can drop down far enough and not snap brake cable there so I can get to that other end of the leaf spring.
