Is anyone else as discusted with the twins as I am? They practically begged for 10 years for a stadium and finally got one and they say they will put a better product on the feild. From what I have so far this off season they have done nothing. I have read that it is such a big cost to keep the core here that we are strapped, guys like the M & M boys, cuddy, Nathan, ect. This releiver they just signed sounds good but what about 3B or 2ND? just cuz billy smith paid punto too much doesn't mean he is a starter, too light with the bat...same with casilla too light with the bat. Tolbert just isnt the answer. The socks have gotten better and the royals have done more than us...sad. This division will be tough and I feel dupped by the team. they have not gone after one A-list player and that aint right. MN is the place A-listers leave from not join...hunter, santana ect. my rant is over. is anyone else as frustrated as I am?

I happy with the peanuts that get tossed our way too....

I get my undies in a bunch thinking about how much I'd like to tell that spoiled-brat-rich-kid-who-inherited-a-team-from-his-daddy Bud Selig that he needs to fix MLB so that penny-pinching owners (like himself) have some incentive to invest and put out a quality product.

Did you bother to look at the free agent class this offseason? It's not only one of the worst in recent memory, the few position where good players were available were not, for the most part, positions at which the Twins needed to upgrade.

I'm guessing they're saving some powder to sign Mauer to a long-term deal, and they'l' be a little more active next offseason once they see what revenue the new ballpark actually generates for them.

well they put an offer into washburn, depending on if they get him or not i heard the next move is make a trade for dan uggla, Mat Gamel, or Kevin Kouzmanoff. Getting uggla would be huge, he hits for power which would help a ton but who knows

Not to sound like a broken record..again...

I could not be happier on how the Twins have in past or will continue to run the organization in the future. It's the premier business model in all of Pro sports bar none.

I do find it laughable that people think they run the team to stuff their pockets with loot. They're Billionaire Businessmen they don't need one time from the chump change the Twins bring in. They run the Twins based on geographic financial common sense and do one Ella of a job doing it.

Go Twins!

I've got no major complaints about they way the Twins have been doing things lately. If they sign the MVP they will have a good group of players signed for some years. Just because they got a stadium did not mean their payroll was suddenly going to jump to $120 million. I enjoy baseball and the Twins have been a good team to follow.

mjgrose - I think that as a Twins fan, that's probably how one should realistically approach the season. Set your sights on contending in the division and possibly an appearance in the playoffs. That leaves minimal room for disappointment and anything beyond that is just extra.

the problem is that spending more money doesn't guarantee any more success. ownership knows that and doesn't like taking too many chances like that. Recent history has shown that teams do need to be on the higher end of the salary scale to win it all but there are some teams on the higher end that have failed miserably.

Hope I don't sound too much like a twins homer but think that realistically is probably the best way to look at it. (I'm not quite there myself either but getting closer.)

I agree money doesnt buy championships, but when you have huge holes in your team, and arent willing to spend any money to fill them, thats where this team falls short. I see this years team being 3 players away from being a good team. We need a #1 starter, a good middle relief pitcher, and an infielder. So far we havent tried very hard to go after a quality player to fill any of those positions. Now I am not saying they need to sign big players, for absured dollars, just some above average players.

Personally I think the bullpen needs more work than the starters...not to say I wouldn't mind seeing a quality vet come in as the #2 or #3 guy. I have no reason to believe the twins won't repeat as the division champs, but then get swepped in the 1st round by the yanks again frown But hey, I'd rather win the division every year and compete than finish 3rd or 4th and not be anywhere in october.

NO WAY!! we have two of the top 5 players in the AL in the M & M boys and to be this close to actually hanging a banner worth hanging its stupid not not at least try to get better. They have holes...see above posts...they are not even going after the middle of the road guys at this point. The fans gave them a really nice place to play and after they ink Mauer they better get into the ring for some of these free agents that will be out there. We all know they have a pretty decent farm system, look who is on this roster who came up thru our system. Just get in the game and soon!!

I guess I don't understand why the old answer "It is how the Pohlad's do business" has anything to do with being a Twins fan... The way the business is run should have little to do with being a fan.... as a fan you root for your team and want to see the product on the field... I don't care how much $$$ the Twins make, I want to see wins!! The bottom line is the Twins could put up more wins if they spent a little more $$$. We have had too many pieces fall into place already for me to think we have 2 front line starters in the making in our system already!! It is their business to do with as they please and they definitely know how to make a lot while spending a little.... I hate the Yankees, but as a fan, I wish my team was like them and their winning no matter what the cost attitude.

The can run their business how they like, but I will be a fan who contributes NOTHING to their bottom line until I see them come through on their promise to upgrade the team after then got the new stadium. They wanna treat it like a business? Fine, so will I. I will watch them on TV and listen on the radio. But I am not going to a game until they put up.

I did get free tix to the caravan and it was okay. The piece that rankled me a little was the cheap marketing ploy that one of the execs (i cant remember which one) said. He said "The days of being able to go to the dome and get tickets for that nights game are over, so plan ahead and buy tickets now.". Yeah, right. I bet you can get ticketes to almost any game the day/night of that game. Opening week excluded.

Tough to field a Yankee type team for Minnesota money.

We have won 2 World series and yes, it could be a bit better team but they do ok for what they have.

I would like to see the Twins go farther in the play offs but I see almost every game they play.

I have always enjoyed watching the Twins. I do hit a few games every season and really enjoy it. Not cheap but it is fun watching them play.

This Minnesota market cannot spend what the Yanks do and never will be able to as we are in to small of a market.

It will be a very nice ballpark.

Go Twins
