HOLY SMOKES slammer!!! 6-7000# for a 1/2 ton? What kind of truck ya drivin' there buddy?? My full size Ram weighs 3609 with a full tank. Phred52

Phred, you must be driving a 2WD, regular cab. I think the curb weight for most half ton 4WD crew cabs is between 5-6000 lbs plus people fluids and gear/accessories.

Nope, 4 wheel drive, full size 1500 club cab with a cap. The only thing missing was me (240#)!! I weighed the truck with the fish house, 4 wheeler, propane tanks, and it came out to 7,310. Parked the house with all the extras and the truck alone weighed 3,609. Needed to know about what the max GVWR was for licensing on the house. Still have the weigh ticket from the state certified scale. Phred52

I won't argue with you because you weighed it. I'm just curious what year is your truck and is it heavily modified?

The reason I ask is I own an '04 dodge 1500 quad cab 4X4 and the listed curb weight is 5,253 for my truck and that has gone up almost every year since '04. The listed curb weight for an '09 is 5,740.

Even with just liability insurance on a vehicle, they insurance would be on the hook for getting the vehicle out, as it would be a liability.

Just to set the record straight on Liability insurance.

Liability insurance is for damage or injury to someone else or their property caused by you. Nothing to do with this situation.

Big Dave2, It's just a stock '98 Ram 1500 SLT w/ a 6 1/2' box. I have SS running boards and a glass cap and that's IT! No mods. I'm quite surprized everyone elses trucks are weighing in at so much!

Sorry Phred but your kidding yourself. my '69 camaro tips 3500 on a certified scale. Ain't no way your truck is in the same weight class. I don't know what happened but that weight is not accurate.

Just found Dodges curb weight for that truck 2071 kg for 2wd = 4560 lbs

Well, Now you've all got me goin'! confused It's back to the scale asap to find out what's with that previous weight. I just hope my fish house is licenced for enough weight! Definitely will post back! Phred52

Phred, from what I can find it looks like the curb weight of a 98 full size 1/2 ton dodge ram with 4x4 and extended cab should be 4706 lbs. I don't know what a topper weighs but if it fiberglass I would think it is several hundred pounds plus anything else you have in the truck to add weight.

I would have to guess that DTRO's estimate of 5609 lbs would be pretty close to the actual weight of your truck.
