TonkaBass
Just wondering what everyones fav. flipping jigs was and more importantly, why.
Deitz Dittrich
My own.. I call it the WOBD jig.. However I get tired of tieing it. A very close 2nd is a OutKast RT jig.. I like mine in the way it breathes.. I tie bucktail under the silicone.. I like the headshape and hook on the OutKast. It also has a larger skirt, which I like!I have been talking to OutKast to market my Jig.. but with the economy its hard to get a new mold.. RossT
The Outkast RT jig. Great hook, good skirt, double rattles, and awesome color selection.
Deitz Dittrich
well there you have it, 2 votes for the RT,and its a MN based company!
champion198elite
I will throw my vote to the outkast r.t. jig also. The sunfish color put alot of 3-5lb fish in my boat late last summer and into the fall. I will not be hitting the water this year with out that very jig tied on. I'm going to actually getting rid of my other jigs and I'm going to be using the R.T. full time. Great product and Minnesota based.
ikeslayer
sounds awully prostaffy in here. that being said i have never used an outcast - i will as soon as champ198 gets me my sample pack!!! As for now i have been a booyah guy not cause of my loyalty to pradco just cause like the way their jig comes through the stuff
Deitz Dittrich
Sorry for coming across as Pro-staffy ike..Truth be told, there are a lot of good jigs out there.. .In the past I have used Strike King Triple Rattle Back jigs.. And Northland Jungle Jigs.. But in all honesty.. I like the RT Jig better.. Thicker skirt, better keeper for plastics.
East Rush Rules
I also second the Outkast jigs. Wide range of colors and always able to find them at the local gander. Second on my list would be booyah, just like how they look in the water.
st.crioxfishin
I use the all terrain jigs. main reason I like them is because of the head design, the eyelet is enclosed by the lead head and makes for less weeds and scum hanging up on it. That and I just have all the confidence in the world in that jig and I think that makes a difference too!
Cecil
If told me I could be on the pro-staff for any jig company out there, I would still stick with Outkast. They make VERY high quality jigs. They listen to what we need and we as anglers can help create the lures. Not many companies out there you can say that about. A lot make lures to catch fishermen, not fish. RT jig is probabaly best flippin jig on market. Great hook, bait keeper and colors.Did that sound one sided enough?
basguy31
I have been using both Northland Jungle Jigs and All Terrain Grassmaster jigs lately. I really like the grassmaster design, skirts, hooks and the fact that they come in some heavier sizes for finding fish in the really thick stuff. champion198elite
Ike, I totally forgot about getting you those jigs!! Sorry man. I'm on it now though. I'll let ya know when I have them. No prostaffing here just know quality when I see it. To be honest, the late Nick Bowlus(r.i.p.) made one of the best jigs I've ever thrown and the R.T. is so close to the same head Nick made I'd swear outkast had bought the mold. I know they didnt though and Cecil made the comment "they(outkast)listens to the fisherman" so true.
ikeslayer
It is ok to sound prostaffy - i have done it as well. When you really believe and trust in a product that is a good thing. Glad to hear you guys have found such good product. Looking forward to it champ!!!
Craigums
I use mostly the Northland Jig I like how the rattles are not attached to the hook, I also think the Outkast Jigs are quality products I just wish they made the RT in 1/4oz. bemidjibasser
I pour my own. I use the biggest Mustad Ultra Point or Owner Cutting Point that I can fit into the mold (bullet, arky, roundhead, and football). The price is right and they work. That's all I can ask for in a jig. I use a lot of Northland's skirts on my jigs and tie up some of my own if I think I need a certain color scheme. I rarely paint the heads, and have noticed little to any difference in strike ratios between painted and unpainted heads. I guess it all boils down to confidence in what you are using. If you have had success in the past, you are likely to continue using what has worked for you...

EBass
I like the Stone Jigs from Strikemaster. I think Strikemaster makes them. Otherwise Booya. Outcast you say, I'll have to check them out.
bemidjibasser
I think Mann's makes the stone jig. Wasn't it endorsed by Ike at one time?
TonkaBass
Yeah. It was what he used in his bassmaster classic winMy Fav is the stanley flat eye jig just because of the catch ratio.

Bassman55
Although I am not a big fan of their spinnerbaits, I really like Terminators flippin jigs. Northland also completely changed their jigs last year and even though I didn't get to fish it to much I think it is a good jig.
TonkaBass
The new jungle jig is a HUGE improvment from their older ones.
EBass
Thanks for the correction. Hank Parker was using them on a show and I liked the way they stood up. They are better in grass/weeds because of the triangle looking head, but I still pitch them in the wood/rocks with good results.
Daze Off
Thanks for the correction. Hank Parker was using them on a show and I liked the way they stood up. They are better in grass/weeds because of the triangle looking head, but I still pitch them in the wood/rocks with good results. I'm with you on this one - love the Stone jigs but they are hard to find. Pretty much have to order on the net. Not that I am proficient in this technique but they skip very well too because of that flat head. I nearly always add a double claw rattle.Another jig a realy like is made by local MN company - FlaMinn lures. For whatever reason they tend to hang up less in my experience and still work pretty well in grass. Only Thorne Bros carries them locally. Can get 'em at the Sportshow or online too.Going to try a new jighead from Stamina this year and make my own skirts. Look to be a middle ground between the two above. RK
Hiya - I like the Northland jigs - especially with the new skirts. peanut butter & jelly and watermelon/red rock. For a while there they were using a sproat hook that was pretty lousy - you'd spring them if you really smoked a fish flipping with braid. The hooks on 'em now are great though. What I like about the Jingle Jig is the head design is pretty versatile - works casting or flipping/pitching. Plus, as Craigums very astutely pointed out, the Northland rattles are free-swinging, which makes a much bigger difference than you'd think. A while ago they also changed from colored plastic barrels on the rattles to clear plastic, and they did NOT work as well. Pro staff guys asked them to change back, and they did. As others have said, the Outkast RT jig is a really good one too. IMHO Outkast also makes the best commercially-available swim jig out there...Cheers,Rob Kimm
