Rocky Blizzard or Lacrosse Iceman

Both of these boots are on clearance and I desparatly need a new pair of boots as my ten year old snow boots just don't cut it anymore. They have both boots in my size, but can't decide. Rockys have 1200 thinsulate, with no liner, Lacrosse has 400 with a liner. What say you guys?

A lot of Lacrosses have foam liners (instead of felt), if the icemans are I wouldn't get them, foam absorbs water while felt wicks it away from you body.

I have a pair of rocky hunting boots (800 gram thinsulate I think), they replaced my 10 year old rockys. I like them a lot but they are not very warm, I think they're designed to be more of a fall boot, I only wear them ice fishing if it's going to warm out, maybe 20 degrees or up.

Have a pair of Rocky 1000 gram pac-boots. Dont really know what type. IMO, having the thicker rubber between your feet and the ice is better than all the thinsulate you can cram anywhere. Awesome boots, feet on the ice all day baby.

I have both and the Icemans are warmer and you can take the liner out to dry it. Boots that dont have a liner hold moisture and we all know thats your enemy on the ice.

If you have a boot dryer you use ever night than go with wichever one you like the best. The billards are lighter but thats never a factor for me on the ice.

I have a pair of 800 gram Rocky without a liner and they are awesome, a good pair of wool socks and Im toasty warm, however they are 8 years old now and the seams have started to leak, but at 8 years, heck, I got plenty a use out of them they are still plenty warm, I just cant walk thru 8" of standing water anymore!

When I buy again I will definitly go with Rocky

I do like the idea of being able to take out the liners to dry over night. Do you find the Iceman to hold up waterproof wise as far as kicking slush when you drill holes?

I HAD the Rocky Blizzards. They were OK (not great) for 2 seasons, and the third they leaked like a sieve. I can't say I was ever extremely pleased with them, but they got tossed that third season after a slushy trip to Leech Lake. I can't say anything for the LaCrosse boots, but I have the Cabela's Predators now, and they are 100X the boot the Rockys were. Take a look at those, they may be coming on sale here soon.......

I know there probably not on sale yet, but I second the Predator. Tried a 2000g thinsulate, and it was terrible, the removable liner is key. Save your money and get the Predator.

Worth noting:driving in the predators is not easy at all!!!!

I got the alpha icemans on clearance about a month ago and haven't had to have foot warmers since. Just happened to step in a spear hole and got a boot soaked. Put the liner in the dryer on low and put the boots by a heat register and they were totally dry by morning. Great buy

Icemans all the way, mine are well over 10 years old and still going strong. I ice fish, ride sled and 4 wheeler, wear ice cleats when needed and only wear one pair of socks, and not wool. I will buy them again when I need a new pair. But I think I have 4 to 5 more years in them.

Couldn't agree more. Mine are at least as old. I ice fish a lot and bowhunt well into December. These boots have held up great are as warm as anything else I've ever tried. Can't say enough about them. Will definetly buy them again, IF they ever wear out.

I've owned my Icemans for over 15 years I think. I did replace the liners cause I wore the other liners out. I used them for work sometimes when it was extremely cold.

They still going strong.

I can honestly say I have never had cold feet wearing those boots.
