Not a big one, but sure made his trip. Small river near my folks in Iowa. He was getting very disappointed because he wanted to show grandpa what a fisherman he was. He caught a little 7” one and lost about 10 jigs in trees and rocks. I told him one more cast and we better go. Then he pulled out this 12” smallie.

Great fish everyone! I have had the worst luck this year. The last 3 trips out I have caught 1 small baby bass. About to just winterize the boat. And I'm fighting to get a T rig though the weeds.

here's a few from vacation last week. had a decent week catching not a ton of fish but the ones caught were quality fish.

I might have actually been on that same body of water this past weekend. Of course, I say might. But, when 19" fish weigh more than 5 pounds (the ones we caught did), those are what I would also call a Tank! And where we were, jigs and huge spinnerbaits were the ticket.

And, like you mentioned, the windiest of the 4 days we fished was by far the best. Again, don't know if it was the same lake, but I know you fish the one we were on.

We bought a "working" scale for sunday and it appears Ive been guessing under what all the fish have been weighing... scary thought... anyways, we discovered the deadliest jig combination... and wow, imagine if Id discovered it years earlier!

Couldnt buy a fish on a spinnerbait, though I did catch my biggest smallmouth of the week on a buzzer. Couldnt buy a smallmouth on sunday, though.
