Slow trolling jigs and plastics is still the hot ticket!

Found some fish, still pre-spawn in my neck of the woods. They were out from the pencil reeds and we were out casting in to the edges of them with jigs and impulse plastics under a float. The Northland Impulse Tadpole seemed to be the ticket, in pink! Caught quite a few of different sizes along with some pretty decent gills.

Nothing like going "stealth" mode in the kayak hunting down crappies; found them just off the first break from the shallows this weekend.

how big of a kayak are you running BB?? Do you have it set up for your locator??

Just a small one 10'4" use it on the river a lot so wanted shorter and yes I use my Marcum Troller which is perfect, small, digital readout. Only thing I struggle with is throwing the fish on the floor at my feet, gotta figure something out for that....otherwise I love it.

I am running an 8 footer and it works great!! Caught a ton of these guys yesterday...nothing huge but some dandy 8-9"ers

Thank you!! Its a simple set up, just a bare bones kayak, an 8 footer, nothing fancy. Easy to go from lake to lake, and easy to get around on the water. I definitely recommend it! I've only used my boat once this year lol. I've been using the kayak every time out. Grab an ultra light rod and a small tackle box and hit the water!!

Took my kayak out onto local river and found crappies in a deeper hole after a sharp corner less than 200 yds from a culvert guys can get them from shore, caught a bunch kept a few for dinner.

I've been keying in on prime time to go out and catch these fish up shallow, no super slab crappies but I've been catching some decent gills and other fish mixed in. Up shallow next to the bull rushes... Plastics under a float have been my go to bait. Can't go wrong with the Impulse tadpole!
