it looks like we are a few days ahead of last year at this point. But it sure doesn't look like weather that is condusive to melting for a few days. I just hope the extra water from I-Falls is enough to get things going.

Should be a blast, wish I was going but Dad just had to have his hip replaced and is laid up for a while. Never been sturgeon fishing in the spring but did catch this one last fall while walleye fishing last weekend in October '08.

Sure was a blast on a 6'6" light action rod!

It's not so much the warm weather but the strength of which the River is pushing down stream. And right now the River is Way up and flowing at a tremendous clip.

Upside is it will probably be open in the Bay by the Excursion. Downside is the water clarity is already low and fishing may be a bit tougher.

I know the Walleye guys are bumming out right now because of the situation.

Either way game on!

Ya, you're telling me! I was hoping to do an eye/sturgie trip this weekend, i'm not sure how that's gonna pan out. Sounds like the river is going down right now and the clarity is improving, but it's gonna be a last second decision on Friday.

Chris are you rigging these setups "lindy style" or like a three way?

Yep... Lindy style, live bait rigging, slip sinker rigging, etc. 3-way is not necessary.

I keep the leader about 12-18" in length.

Tic toc tic toc.. River is opening at Vidas ahora.. You'all stay in the bay!

River cracks early with waaay high water like this and them Sturgeonfishes might all run upstream maybe this year sooner than later right?

Bring on the new found here and there southern Sturgeonfish

gurus.. The state record class beast is out there and you 4 sure have heavy enough tackle.

Hunker in bay and wait for BIG MAMA Sturgeonfish to wander thru and bite some incursionist's line or ??

Wander upstream maybe??

The Sturgeonfish are out there!

FUN! FUN!

Bright side the bay hole will be w-i-d-e open...

Bring woims they're not out crawlin' around up here yet.

The Original Sturgeon Excursion.. Often imitataded.. Kinda duplicated.. The last few springs anyhow.
