Synthetic Amsoil for augers

I was in the LBS when I was told of this product and was told to run it one packet per gallon which equals a 100:1 Fuel to oil ratio. My auger requires a 24:1 ratio but the guy at the bait shop says 100:1 will be fine with this synthetic product. Anyone know more facts on this?

The best thing about the 100:1 mixes is that you can use 1 fuel can for all you small 2 stroke engines. Another great thing is they have an incredible fuel stabilizer in them that is way more effective and potent than stabil or other additive. They also help prevent those trips to the small engine shop to get the carb cleaned and rebuilt.

its amsoil, thats the difference. i wont run anything but it in my auger, chainsaw or weed whip ever again. more top end LESS smoke and the auger is alot less cold blooded. cut 6 holes in a buddys permanent on friday only opened the door to let out the exahst while the auger was running. i dont get it either but there is not smoke and ALOT less stink.

i run mine closer to 80:1 cause i have only run a full tank of amsoil/gas mixture through it. (still working on breaking them into 100:1) next gallon of gas:oil will be 100:1

Oilman you talked me into it and THANX

100% synthetic.

I have rum Amsoil Sabor in my Auger, weed eaters etc. for many years. Love it!

I rum Amsoil products in my boat as well and have had very good performance with it.

In my Auger I run the Sabor at 100 to 1 now and broke it in at 80 to 1.

I switched to Ams Saber this season. I run it closer to 80:1. It ran great the first day. Then I had to rebuild the entire carb due to an unrelated issue (stuck needle). It took a while to get it retuned, but now, look out!!!

I am very happy with it. Running an ancient(between 6 and 8 years old) Jiffy Model 30. I figure if switching from regular 2stroke oil to Ams doesn't kill it, nothing will.

smeese, I run Amsoil Sabre professional 100:1 in ALL my 2 stroke air cooled engines!! Have for now 9 years and I will NEVER use DINO-OIL again!! I have 1 can of mix in the garage for my auger, weedwhip, chainsaw and an old mower that I take to the cabin. They run better than ever, start easier, and smell better than they did when new. TRY the Amsoil, they have a guarantee, but the best guarantee is once you use it, you won't go back to Dino-Oil. I ALSO use Amsoil in my outboard motors. Phred52 BTW, If you have a Perm fish-house, and use Amsoil, the auger doesn't leave the black "GOO" on your walls and it actually smells good!

Amsoil Saber here too. I am a believer, Switched the boat over to the HP injecter this last summer, low smoke and no loading up when trolling for a few hours.

It may seem a little more expensive at first, but when you think about 24:1 as compared to 100:1 it actually cost less to use.

Amsoil all the way.

AMSOIL is a full synthetic, man made, designed lubricant. The Saber Professional is a di-ester based (made from agricultural byproducts, not from crude oil), is ashless and burns away clean leaving no carbon behind, smokeless or nearly so in all machines. Because it is designed to be a better lubricant, stronger, you don't need as much. When you are able to use less oil you get less octane dilution and more power.

The 'pillow packs' (the most popular package for auger use), are 1.5 oz and will give a little stronger than 100-1 if you get all of it out of the pack, though a lot of people like to be safer and mix a pack with .8 gal of gas and get around 80-1 mixture.

You can order direct using any of my links (the product link above will take you direct to the Saber Professional page). AMSOIL ships direct to you from the closest regional distribution center (Superior, WI for most here) for 1 or 2 business day delivery to most (some remote areas of ND are taking 3 business days), via UPS standard ground shipping to your door.

I picked some up at the Madison lake bait shop so as soon as my 3 pillow packs are out I will order from you in a larger quantity. I broke my auger in on the factory reccomendation of 24:1 with Jiffy oil. (two tanks worth) Ran great but the auger is brand new so it should. Now that it is broken in I plan on making the switch in fact it is in the gas can and ready to go fill up. Do you guys use higher octane or just the cheap stuff?

use the cheap stuff (gas).....since I have been using Amsoil I enjoy using my auger....i seemed to have trouble starting no matter how many times I brought it to the shop.....the first tank of Amsoil I could tell the difference......when I went to the same shop and I told them that the auger works like a champ since putting in Amsoil they cautioned that if I run at more than 40:1 that it will void the warranty on the engine....i said well the engine didn't run good before and you did nothing so at least it runs now and I believe that amsoil will warranty there product use........I also run Amsoil in the boat motor and it runs great...good product!!

I must be the only one that doesnt use that stuff. I have always run the strikemaster stuff and never had a problem. I use the newer bottles, i think its closer to 50:1 now (synthetic mix) and it works great for me. My auger is still running strong at 11 years old. I never had a problem with smoke or starting with the 24:1 and with the new mix its running like a top. I guess I heard too many horror stories from running the lean mix too mess with it. I would rather be on the safe side. Strikemaster is the one who told me to stay away from it and they make the augers so thats what I have done. I have yet to be let down by it.

    • got this tackled today took about 3 hours to get both sides done. Didnt even get to use a torch....   Thought I was golden with just jacking it up and I could get to everything but no luck. Had to remove the entire axle hub and brake assembly to get to what I needed. Was a pain but still better then taking off the entire pivot arm.    Axle bearings were already greased and in great shape thankfully. Got both leaf springs installed and its ready for the road again.   Probably going to have my electric brakes checked, I am not touching anything with the brake drums. Based on what I saw it doesn't look like my electric brakes have been working anyway. Brakes are nice to have if its slippery out
    • By The way that didn't work either!! Screw it I'll just use the cellular.
    • It’s done automatically.  You might need an actual person to clear that log in stuff up.   Trash your laptop history if you haven’t tried that already.
    • 😂 yea pretty amazing how b o o b i e s gets flagged, but they can't respond or tell me why I  can't get logged in here on my laptop but I can on my cellular  😪
    • I grilled some brats yesterday, maybe next weekend will the next round...
    • You got word censored cuz you said        B o o b ies….. haha.   Yeah, no… grilling is on hiatus for a bit.
    • Chicken mine,  melded in Mccormick poultry seasoning for 24 hours.  Grill will get a break till the frigid temps go away!
    • we had some nice weather yesterday and this conundrum was driving me crazy  so I drove up to the house to take another look. I got a bunch of goodies via ups yesterday (cables,  winch ratchet parts, handles, leaf springs etc).   I wanted to make sure the new leaf springs I got fit. I got everything laid out and ready to go. Will be busy this weekend with kids stuff and too cold to fish anyway, but I will try to get back up there again next weekend and get it done. I don't think it will be bad once I get it lifted up.    For anyone in the google verse, the leaf springs are 4 leafs and measure 25 1/4" eye  to eye per Yetti. I didnt want to pay their markup so just got something else comparable rated for the same weight.   I am a first time wheel house owner, this is all new to me. My house didn't come with any handles for the rear cables? I was told this week by someone in the industry that cordless drills do not have enough brake to lower it slow enough and it can damage the cables and the ratchets in the winches.  I put on a handle last night and it is 100% better than using a drill, unfortatenly I found out the hard way lol and will only use the ICNutz to raise the house now.
