Let's please keep this on topic smile

The one (The Donk) who started this thread had asked to keep this to just Equipment

Im not talking about people making noise or whatever, what can go wrong with your fishing equipment or experience that makes you most frustrated?

Thanks!

What drives me nuts is that first trip of the year, with a new or different set-up. The bugs one finds during the trip and have to work out before the next. Plus, I hate the exploded pop can in the sled during pulling the porty out with the snowmobile. What a mess tiredwhistle

When i can see the fish on the vexilar and they wont bite even after i have tried everything in the tackle box. Or when somebody needs to drive ten feet from your fish house when there is only about ten inches of ice.

I guess it would be the slip bobber freezng up in the hole, the line turning into a slinky, TRASH on teh lakes including the TRASH that leave it there, and the guys who are pulling a bunch of screaming kids with a 4 wheeler all over the ice 20 feet from the house while we are trying to enjoy fishing and a little relaxation. Disrespectful. and of course there is the ALWAYS upsetting issue of not catching fish lol

I hate snowmobilers that think 100+ MPH on a busy lake os the speed limit. Not only the dangerousness of it, but the noise is annoying as heck.

I agree, big time.

Also, the people who leave behind all of their junk (paper, gas cylinders, cigarette butts, etc). Do they think this stuff just disappears?

After dragging my suitcase style portable across the lake (I have no atv) I found that when I tried to set it up... the pole that goes across the ceiling was missing. Then I got to backtrack and look through all the snow I traveled across, didn't find it after a good hour. Then decide to wrap it up cuz its too cold for me to sit on a bucket, and find the pole underneath the portable's base. blush

Um, apparently it falls out the the hinge side when I open it.

The ICE...................

It's cold..............

You have to drill holes in the stuff just to get your lure in the water.

As the old saying gos:

I went fishing on Lake Washington yesterday. I drilled and chiseled and chiseled and drilled. By the time I got my boat in at the landing I was to tired to fish!

Up until last night, not much irritated me on the ice. I buried a treble hook in my thumb at about 10:30PM, off to the emergency room. 2 hours later I was at home.....

On a side note, the back hooks on the #3 chubby darters are really really sharp.

No I didn't catch a thing either, I was just getting ready to move in shallower when I hooked the big one

Yes those darter hooks are very very sharp, especially when they are new. Last weekend I was using a brand new one and got a hook in the finger. Thankfully I had crimped the barbs and was able to pull it out on my own.

Spending $800.00 and three months building a nice perm shack and now wondering, "How am I going to get it on the lake?" At least it looks nice sitting next to the garage.

Well I got the house out on the lake finally. So what irritates me now? Buddies who are unwilling to help put the house out, more than willing to fish in it and gone the day it needs to come off the lake.

How about when the county worker put that front end loader through the ice at the landing. I think that is equipment malfunction. That should upset a few of you minnesotans. surprized nobody commented on that one yet.

    • got this tackled today took about 3 hours to get both sides done. Didnt even get to use a torch....   Thought I was golden with just jacking it up and I could get to everything but no luck. Had to remove the entire axle hub and brake assembly to get to what I needed. Was a pain but still better then taking off the entire pivot arm.    Axle bearings were already greased and in great shape thankfully. Got both leaf springs installed and its ready for the road again.   Probably going to have my electric brakes checked, I am not touching anything with the brake drums. Based on what I saw it doesn't look like my electric brakes have been working anyway. Brakes are nice to have if its slippery out
    • By The way that didn't work either!! Screw it I'll just use the cellular.
    • It’s done automatically.  You might need an actual person to clear that log in stuff up.   Trash your laptop history if you haven’t tried that already.
    • 😂 yea pretty amazing how b o o b i e s gets flagged, but they can't respond or tell me why I  can't get logged in here on my laptop but I can on my cellular  😪
    • I grilled some brats yesterday, maybe next weekend will the next round...
    • You got word censored cuz you said        B o o b ies….. haha.   Yeah, no… grilling is on hiatus for a bit.
    • Chicken mine,  melded in Mccormick poultry seasoning for 24 hours.  Grill will get a break till the frigid temps go away!
    • we had some nice weather yesterday and this conundrum was driving me crazy  so I drove up to the house to take another look. I got a bunch of goodies via ups yesterday (cables,  winch ratchet parts, handles, leaf springs etc).   I wanted to make sure the new leaf springs I got fit. I got everything laid out and ready to go. Will be busy this weekend with kids stuff and too cold to fish anyway, but I will try to get back up there again next weekend and get it done. I don't think it will be bad once I get it lifted up.    For anyone in the google verse, the leaf springs are 4 leafs and measure 25 1/4" eye  to eye per Yetti. I didnt want to pay their markup so just got something else comparable rated for the same weight.   I am a first time wheel house owner, this is all new to me. My house didn't come with any handles for the rear cables? I was told this week by someone in the industry that cordless drills do not have enough brake to lower it slow enough and it can damage the cables and the ratchets in the winches.  I put on a handle last night and it is 100% better than using a drill, unfortatenly I found out the hard way lol and will only use the ICNutz to raise the house now.
