Good fishing with you guys today, wish the fish would have stayed put but like Todd said I think the slim darts had them scattered and in the weeds. Need to get back out there soon and find the happies, maybe a night trip in needed. I've caught them there at night before but have to catch a few to find out where they are so you know where to set up.

Timmy, we decided you are the official NY on ice reporter. You are always on scene and getting up to date news on ice / fish. So your new phone number is 1-800-IMONICE (IM ON ICE) smile

Billy and I hit Brandy this afternoon, Tank laid low and went to church, gathered firewood, and watched football.

We had a solid afternoon. Had to weed through smaller/med gills and sunnies but ended up with 20 good ones apiece. Lots of action plus we stayed an hour after dark. I wacked 6 crappies, 3 were keepers with one pushing a foot...

Chris - thats awesome getting the kids on fish! grin

Hit Delta . . .yes I know Jay . . .but after Kyle and Jimmie backed out and I got tired of sitting at home doing . . .house work . . .hey it is close. Lake is in good shape. Easily 60+ out fishing. I went on at the Winter entrance side and followed the quad/snowmobile road out to the end of the point . . .about a 25 minute walk. Easy pull. Ice was a mixture of 4 inches of black and 4-6 inches of white with 5 inches of snow on top. Dropped the old castmaster down the hole and jigged 3 times and a big mark came off the bottom . . .nice 10 inch perch . . . and then nothing for 30 minutes. Then little guys rolled in. Watched many chase tipups and heard lots of yelling about walleyes. Only fished from 2:30 until 4:30 to get home and watch the Eagles . . . win. I'm up for a night excursion for happies. Doug that foreignor is still answering your phone!! Lee wait until you hear my new ring tone!!

I just want to thank the 4 guys I was with today, Todd, Tim, Lee and Steve for putting up with a rookie being in the group. I had a blast, it made me feel so Alive. I especially thank Todd and Tim, because if it weren't for them I wouldn't have the Great gear I have. They really helped get me started, well them and my wife. I can't wait to do this again. Hey any body have a pair of snow ski's they don't need?? Thanx again guys for the pointers.

Sorry I haven't posted my reports yet.

I went on a last minute trip to the Southern Tier to meet Icejig, Scotty, Zach, John and Kappydick. Well, I met Sammy and Scott at the Whitnet Point MCDonalds around 5:45 am on Sunday. We headed to Kappy's Horse Farm to get him. We headed to a backset off the river to fish for Waldos in the dark to daylight. I have no clue where we were. Dark Cloud knows I'm sure. Well, we started beating the crapp out of the Waldos right off the bat. My 2nd drop pulled out a 20" fish. We iced over 10 Eyes on the day. Between the morning and night bite on the river...Kappy took us to a 15 acre flooded gravel bed for some panfish action. We fished between 10am-2pm and we got about 30-40 White Callies, with some 'gills and perch mixed in. The callies averaged about 10 inches with one we saw about 14 inches.

I got home around 7pm and went directly to bed. The Southern Tier has some decent fishing...which I never knew.

Yep, Ive caught a few eyes from there. whistle

Wish you could have seen WP in its hayday! Timmy got in a few killer trips there before the fishing nose-dived. She should come around again with some of the things they are working on with the lake...

Jay - I talked to Doug tonight and we went over the directions on the phone for tomorrow's lake location. I'm meeting King Salmon a.k.a. Mohawk Valley Joe for breakfast in Mohawk at 6 a.m. and then will head south. Tank, Billy, Doug, Joe and myself in attendance. I'll rip a hogger on a knacker for you Jay wink

To whomever is interested:

Let me know if you would like a new fishing friend or companion. I'm looking to get out and make some new friend's that are kind enough to show me around the lakes around the metro area. So if you have an extra seat or just want to make a new friend, give me a jingle, I would be more than happy to go fishing with you. Though I've been ice fishing many times, I'm new to ice fishing in MN, but I'm very anxious on what MN has to offer. Plus making new friend's in the area doesn't hurt.

Thanks.

PSourasinth,

New to Ice Fishing in MN? Doesn't MN stand for Minnesota, hate to burst your bubble but this here is the NY (New York) forum. Although folks from the MN site do visit us from time to time.

Though I myself would enjoy going out with others, being that Thunder works during the week and is usually ready to relax when he gets home from work, and I hate to keep bugging him. So if anyone is looking for company on the ice let me know. I can go about anytime because I'm retired.
