Augustwest-I myself am pretty much a weekend guy to when it comes to onieda. Usually fri - sun trips and about 2-6 guys is the usual. But there are times when i may be out during the week. Thanks for the offer on the coordinates but i wouldn't feel right taking them for the fact i usually roll with a large group. Although the 10 min walk sounds quite inviting. If i come out during the week i'll let you know maybe we can meet up (or a fri).I'm just going crazy sitting in the house and not fishing.

The High Pressure calmed things down a little. The fish were hungry when they showed up on the Flasher...they were just few and far between. I think most of them were tight to the bottom. I fished in 10FOW...17.5FOW and everywhere in between. Lots of flickering going on in the redline bottom. I am on the ice with Kirk and maybe Scout around 5:30AM for a few hours, then it's off to the Restaurant for two 12 plus hour days. I may be convinced that the fish are biting somewhere for a few hours on Saturday. Sunday and Monday I am wide open FISHING laugh

Scout...are you in for tomorrow? I think we will be safe to hit Erieville on Sunday!!!

Where do I start? crazy

Met Frank and Jimmy and headed north looking for ice at a spot I have not fished with Lee in a few years. Ice was like 6" of white walking on the first 50 or so feet with fresh black ice past that 50' around 4-4.5", We started around 7 a.m and caught some sunnies, craps, bass, northerns and a couple of small perch. The meatstick and the power noodle was all I needed today. Of course on the pictures a few did not come out because to keep the batteries warm in single digit weather I kept it inside my coat and the warmth inside my jacket hitting the cold outside air made some of the auto shots foggy but the close-ups came out great in the warm trap. It was great fishing with Lee and Rich again. Here's the shots I had to leave at 2:30 p.m. because my daughter Heather locked here keys in her car. But I caught a nice sunny on the last drop before I packed it in.

The next part of my adventure was getting to my daughters locked keys in car ordeal but first I'll explain what she went through. After filling up her car in Geneva before coming home from the morning after a New Years party with her boyfriend she experienced after 15 mi. of driving that her malibu would lose power. She pulled over waited a minuted and proceeded another 20 mi. and the same thing happened and the third time it went all the way to about 100 yards short of the off ramp for exit 37, hence after talking with NY States finest he suggested to her get it off the the Thruway at 37 and call for a tow. Well she stopped at the Knights hotel off Electronics Parkway and called Mom who in-turn called me and there about is when I left the ice to go to Heather.

After waiting an hour and 10 minutes AAA showed up and it took 60 seconds for him to get the power locks unlocked so Heather could get her keys. Problem solved?? Heck no this was only the beginning.. Thinking because Dad's with her we thought we could give the thruway another shot and go home and things were fine, Heather was in front of me and I behind and we got about 300 yard from the off ramp for exit 35 and it stalled out again. Being that I don't really know Syracuse well I figure will get it restatrted and take the short jaunt back west to 36 go North on 81 and get off at the Rt. 31 exit. So we did and we were rolling fine until 1/4 mi. east of Cicero Center Road and it did it again, but this time it would not start at all, cranked but no fire. AAA call #2 occurs and about an hour later a different tow truck driver shows and instead of hauling it back for to Rome we brought it to a place in Cicero for $4 instead of back to Rome which would have cost me $140.

So much for the basic AAA plan and after this ordeal were getting the higher AAA plan. Of course the tow truck driver get's in the car after it sat for an hour and it fired right up and he was able to drive the car up the flat bed a little and we got her hauled away and since this place was 7 miles we followed behind. After we got there and dropped off the car we stopped at a gas station for a restroom break, no key... We go down this road and find a McDonalds and stopped, got a bite to eat and started back towards home. (Mind you when I picked up Jimmy this morning and we loaded the van with his gear he accidently left his car keys in the glove box of my van and yup you guessed it when he walked me back to the van to get his gear out to transfer it to Franky's Tahoe vehicle he forgot his keys in my glove box.. ) On the way home we got turned around in Cicero and yup I got us lost and by the time we found 31 I was west and out by the mall. Yes MURPHY"S LAW was in full effect.. Anyhow got back to Rome and Heather followed me to Jimmy's house in my van to drop his car off and now I'm home exhausted after spending about 6 hours on our adventure after ice fishing. The kicker was about 20 min. before Heather (locked car key call) my wife was fine with me fishing late in the day. Well that's my story...

Steve I am sorry about not calling you pal but I'm whipped and gotta work in the morning. Talk at ya tomorrow and I'll leave you guys with a camera shot I got used to after 2.5 hours of waiting for AAA..

I think her car could have a couple things wrong... 1st bad gas in Geneva, 2nd clogged fuel filter and third a bad fuel pump, will have to wait and see tomorrow.

Good night all.

Burgy!! Long time no see make sure "to post in the call to roll" thread. We wold like to know everyones real names, trying to put a master list together, tough remebering who's who with my memory.

Thunderman - Todd I don't think Jay would stoop that low and throw dirt on me while I'm currently under the bus laugh Although a little bit of comedy never hurts grin Were upgrading to the AAA plus plan since we used the basic plan up for the year with Heather's tow.. Early prognosis according to what I have learned were starting with a fuel filter replacement and going from there, if it's the fuel pump it's $400 to $500. I hope the new fuel filter will do it, will see... Call ya later...

Tim, Frank, Jimmy and Rick - Good fishing and it felt great to be on the ice, even though it was so freakin cold. It was so cold that if you left a whole and went back to it 20 minutes later you had to re-drill it. LOL I do love that lake and it needs to get explored this weekend (the ice should be plenty good). Not a bad first trip out. I have to get a new camera to bring on the ice, the wife won't let me play with the house one anymore. Even the after I bought it for the "US" for Christmas. LOL

Never tried ski wax but I would think you could. I have a coffee can with a mess of parafin wax melted in it. Just heat it on the stove, take a paint brush or rag and smear it on and let it dry. Works well. If the ski wax will take to pastic (not using skis) it should work even better xince it should last longer. They have several formulations for different conditions such as wet snow, powder, etc.

Lee - Here's who we have coming North from Rome for Saturday. Tuzzy, CNY Bruce, Jimmy and CNY Kyle were meeting at The Dippin on the Blvd. at 5 a.m. The 3" to 8" snow predicted for that area tonight should be cleared by the time we hit Pulaski and points north, looks to be a very good fishy day., Tank and Jay call me if your coming up I'll have your package with me. Lee we will see you and Rich in the morning... wink

Ice report drive by on Darago from Joe, just came in...

Nobody off Bakers, 1-2 guys off the launch but not far out. 6 to 7 huts off Bibik. Bunch of guys in channel area by Lakehouse and deep grin. According to Joe our access area looks very firm wink ice is good close to shore. Thanks Joe!

Jay - I never heard that story.

So it looks like another run to the spot? I must have been sleeping, I didn't know we were thinking about it... LOL I'll get in touch with "Rick" (not Rich - Timmy LOL) and let him know the plans. I sure hope it's warmer this time, I love to hole hop when the "happies" are biting. My last spot I drilled was 3 1/2 inches so between last night and tonight it should all be good. Just ask the guys who went yesterday, the ice was SCREAMING at us all day and let out a happy moan when we drilled a hole to relieve the pressure to make more.... LOL I love fishing on the clear black ice and you can watch your fish swim between you legs (under the ice) when you set the hook.
