If fans were saying bad things about a player of mine, especially an important one, I would say "They are showing improvement, give them time". But someday, deep down, I know descisions would have to be made.

We have changed the coach too much on this team. Fans whine about whoever we get. Taking the coach away from this team is a huge mistake. The QB should be the #1 priority.

I don't think Gus is the answer, but he can't be worse.

The whole offensive philosophy sucks in my opinion... run left, run left, mix in a screen, run left, run right just to mix it up, Tjax bootleg, oh yeah... we have this guy who is making milliions of dollars lets have him run really far down the left sideline and see if Tjax can hit him!

The dissappointing part is it takes a lot to build a team like the Vikes have and the window is really small. The fact that they didn't pursue someone just in case Tjax didn't work out like they thought is dissappointing.

I hope the game is blacked out!

Are you related to Brad Childress Somehow? You seem to be the only one sticking up for him!

No. But I don't think he is a terrible coach. He is beter than Green and Tice...who else is there?

I don't want to get a new coach and "start over". I want to mainly search for a QB and continue. A lot of plusses happened to this team off-season...except for one huge thing.

Maybe that is why Chilly wanted Favre?

How many teams nearly made the playoffs (last year) with a terrible QB?

Baltimore won the super bowl with Dilfer

Tampa won the super bowl with Brad Johnson

adverage qbs at best! It seems to me the coaches steered those ships to the super bowl

No I think those defenses steered those teams to Super Bowl victory’s.

I'm sure I'll get bashed for stating my opinion on this again and frankly I don't care. People have a right complain out coaches like happens here with every coach and QB and in every sports town in America.

Coaching is overrated the 2 example's I like use are Tony Dungy and Brian Billick.

The great offensive minded Billick of Vikings offensive power house fame was brought into Baltimore to turn their offense around to go along with their storied defense.... LMAO...FAIL.

Tony Dungy "great guy" and a Defensive genius was brought into Indy to turn around their defense in order to compliment there high powered offense... LMAO ..fail. yes Dungy or actually the players after 6 years did FINNALLY get the defense to play at a high level for a short time and they won the big one but.....

Bill Parcells and Dallas....ooooooops!

It's the players for the most part yes the coach has a part in it also.

I agree...both those teams had GREAT defense. Even better than the Vikes now.

Johnson won a Super Bowl with short accurate passes and great defense. Hardly ever threw a long ball.

Chilly could be lousey too, but I think the QB should be tops on the list. T-Jack is a nice guy, but he is just not right for this team.

I'm with you, Walleye12.

I could not agree with you any less, HammerHandle. I understand your empathy for Childress, being a coach yourself. However, I believe you are wrong. Childress is to blame more so than TJack for the Viking troubles.

I also believe that the playbook should have been opened up for TJack before they placed him on the bench. At least give him a chance to prove he can't do the full playbook before replacing him with Gus. That assumes, of course, that Childress hasn't already shown us all that his "kick a$$" offense is capable of. (Yeah, that's a jab)

EDIT: On second thought.... If our offense opens up with Gus at the helm and we start to look like a professional offense, it will prove one of two things: (1)that TJack was the bottle-neck (and that HammerHandle was right), or (2)Childress's faith in TJack was the bottleneck.

Number 2 could have been ruled out if the playbook were opened to TJack, as I previously suggested, but I'll settle for this I suppose.

Should be an interesting game on Sunday.

I like how Childress said TJ could still possibly be the future QB. Who's he trying to kid? I wish he would just come out and say he made a mistake trying to make an Alabama State QB into a starter.

PierBridge....look at the talent Barry Switzer had when Dallas won SB XXX. I don't think those guys even needed a coach that year. I think HammerHandle could have taken 'em all the way! smile

In my opinion I think Chilly still wants T-jack to start, I think ownership made the change at QB not "stubborn" Chilly

You arent seriously trying to compare the Vikes D to those teams are you?The Vikes let their chance at a good coach head to Pittsburg.IMO

Pier, Dungy wasn't brought into Indy to improve their "D" and Billick wasn't brought into Baltimore to improve their offense, that is the job of a coordinator, not the head coach. They were brought into their jobs to win a Super Bowl because they were the best options at the time for a head coach, and they succeeded.

tice had a better record with less talent than we have now. may have been a great coach with a couple more years under his belt. If i remember correctly when daunte got injured we had a qb come in and play well and win games. I think his name was gus also. good luck

I always thought Tice tried to hard to be buddies with his players, which is the wrong approach. Start being buddies with your players- next thing you know they charter a boat on Lake Minnetonka and do whatever they want.

we all hear the "it's not t-jack, its the play calling" and playbook arguements. but when your quarterback can only effectivly execute 2 plays, the play calling has to be limited!! even the announcers were accurately predicting the next play in sundays game, makes sense that the defense can too!! I'm excited about the switch. I'll agree that it isn't the solve all answer, but it's a good start. I'm sure Ziggy got ahold of chilly and told him what was happening!!
