Aaron Carrell
Here's my biggest of the year. Have had 3 others in the boat the same size but always fishing alone... and those pictures are just boring to me. Anyways, she was 20" caught @ dusk on a Mystic Spook. (Fav new topwater!) Still working on that 22" mark I set earlier this year. You can check out any of my or my friends bigger fish on my HSOforum too! Just click/hover my name at the top and follow the link. matthothand
Juan Grande, there's a huge advantage to using rods with a split grip like the ones in my pic. Split grips look cool. They make me feel cool. If I feel cool I have more confidence and catch more fish. OK...maybe I'm stretching it. Split grips do reduce weight a bit but when I build my rods I don't worry about how much the cork weighs. I really just want as little as possible on the rod blank. I shape my handles so that I can grip the blank with my index finger and thumb while my palm and other fingers hold the reel seat and rest of the handle. It's all about the ergonomics. Also it's a way for me to look a bit different. It's nice when people know the pile of rods in the boat were all custom built and don't confuse them with ugly sticks. goblueM
Fished a metro lake last night with the GF and got this piggy. 19.5, didn't get a weight on him. Put on a jig with a 10 inch power worm trailer and told her "thats a fish". Cast it out, then noticed my knife blade was open. Set the rod down to close it and this guy almost pulls the rod in the water! Crazy. Also had a nice double with the GF but she dropped it in before I could say "hey lemme get a pic of you with both of these". Nice night to be out!
