ikeslayer
So this lure is new to me but i think it is actually maybe ancient. so i just bought a couple of these and i am wondering if they are legal. Seems like they will be but it might be towing the line. i haven't read the regs in some time so plan on doing so but wondered what you guys thought. i think it will be a great lure when the shad are schooling It is called a mann's loudmouth follow me:
RK
Should be perfectly legal. No different than a jointed crankbait really - only difference is the shape. My $.02.Cheers,Rob Kimm
Sandmannd
I don't see why it wouldn't be legal to use.
EBass
Where did you get that? Looks like a baby 1 minus w/o the lip tied to a bomber.
Craig Plummer
Should be legal but I hope that connecting ring is nice and sturdy, It would be a shame to lose a nice fish
hhguide
I agree with EBass I might have to try that it looks pretty good and I know I have some 1 minus at home!
Neighbor_guy
NOT LEGAL!!! not in the least. Youi should send it to me for disposal.
Ray Esboldt
Illegal in seven states and Puerto Rico. I would guess it's legal, but riddle me this. Think about how many fish are going to come unpinned with that contraption. It's hard enough to keep a fish hooked on a crank, but with this one they have the extra leverage of another crankbait flipping around when they jump. photocycle
I would check with the DNR.. your best bet. Let us know what they say.I went through Mann's Bait catalog and I didn't see such thing on there?
matthothand
It's legal. I have a few in different colors. I bought em up in the dollar clearance bin and figured I'd take em apart and have a bunch of 50 cent cranks. They are still in the packages and I haven't touched em. They ARE legal though. BassProAddict
I couldn't help it...I tried it with some Rapala's.You think I should break off the bill on the trailing lure?
Bushwacker
I would think it would be legal too, just like RK said, just a modified version of a jointed crankbait in my opinion. That doesn't mean that is every CO's opinion though.

It wouldn't work so well either way, tank test it to see. What happens when a floating rap gets a drag on the tail end, it severely compromises it's wobbling action. The same thing happens when you add a heavy feathered trailer. If you've got a big billed rap, like one of those wide wobble divers, like a shad rap rs, it works to lessen the dive and tighten the wobble action. ikeslayer
Thanks for your comments fellas. i thought about making some of my own with a dt and a trap but then i saw this one in the store. I think it is discontinued the baitstore i got it from has some dust on some lures. This lure just made me wonder where the line was and when does one lure become 2. Could you attach a whole string of baits together and call them one lure. or how about tying some flukes in tandem with seprate hooks????ike
CHM
Ike - as you know my son works for the DNR. He told me to have you send it to him for examination. And - is that the dollar you owe me?

Could you attach a whole string of baits together and call them one lure. or how about tying some flukes in tandem with seprate hooks????"It was a few years back and had a chat with DNR guy. When two lures are fish as one lure as in attached split ring distance and functioning as one lure when fished, it may be considered one lure. DNR guy made a point that as long as hooks was only on one lure. That also led to the point of using one lure to the effect of an attracter or diver in trolling technique. In my mind, I'm thinking bobber as well. No hooks and a floating lure is used as a bobber for a more stealth presentation.
BassProAddict
Out of curiousity, has anyone ever been busted by the DNR for lure types?
Deitz Dittrich
I've never been busted, but I have been checked... I will admit, my one scary for me deal with a dnr dude.. I was given a warning. I had just bought an infatable PFD. It was a hot day and I took it off an put it on my boat seat. I was checked by a DNR officer and was given a warning becuase the inflatable I had was only valid if it was "ON".I was unaware of the rules, I deserved a ticket, it was my own ignorance... but was given a warning.
