Shack
Even in the back of a truck, it still is a picture. Unless you see it with your own eyes (resent kill or alive), one nevers fully knows fur sure. Even a mount on the wall is subject to corrections..I just like to think it is true. Neat to look at! Powerstroke
Quote:If its real, how did it get through the trees and brush without bumping the antlers into deformity during velvet? How do moose get through the summer without bumping their racks?I think its probably real as I've seen similar pictures of deer before. Rather than doubt ever pic of a trophy deer, how bout admiring it and hoping someone gets the chance to harvest it.
slimngrizzly
How does every 30" plus moose and elk do it????? They just do! Well adjusted to their surroundings! You just have to believe! There is numerous photos of the Rompola buck from on the hoof, to dead in the truck, to mounted on his wall.... And still he is verbally battered by the deer hunting world. Why cant these huge deer be real? Thats what records are... amazing freaks that beat all the odds! Appreciate them until proven fakes!
xedge2002
Well said powerstroke and Slimngriz. Also tipman if they don't have room on their wall for a trophy like that I'm sure I could make the space for it at my place!!!

Where have you found all these pictures of Rompola's buck? The only one I've ever seen was with him holding it and he's created his own problems with that deer by refusing to have it authenticated by anyone. I don't see anything in these pictures that screams out fake to me, but I don't even know how to use photoshop so what do I know? If its real though...WOW! slimngrizzly
There is another dozen photos out there of this buck. Very good, different, convincing photos! Im not saying its real or not... im just saying????I believe it is real, and I think Mitch Rompola is an accomplished hunter who probably deserved it more than anyone else! I think he hunts big bucks because they impress him! Not to impress everyone else who deer hunts! Thats why he wont have it scored... Because hes tired of the politics and the B.S. that go with it... he isnt in it for the fame and fortune. He knows that keeping everyone in suspense, not putting a score or a number on it, makes people crazy! We want to know!!! So we say its fake... that way its ok to not know, it doesnt matter then! I think Mitch Rompola it a guy that does it for the deer and not the fame! That was his way of sticking it the the "media controlled" deer hyped world! And Id say it worked! I may be wrong and it may be fake.... but id like to think the greatest deer died to the arrow of the greatest hunter. And that, that deer could be appreciated on that mans wall just as much as it would if it was paraded around the world making him millions at deer shows! But all that is just what I want to believe...
96trigger
Holy dump, nice buck regardless. You guys have a great way of Hijacking a post Not mad I actually think its funny, like hunters with attention deficit. Now, what were we talking about? 96trigger
Sorry I guess we moved off of photoshop and are now talking about building antlers and putting them on deer. Shackbash So far, this thread has made me want to buy photoshop .
MNRookie78
Why can't this thread stick to the topic. Not a lot of fun to page through a ton of opinions just to get to a good looking trail cam photo. By the way...there are some REALLY nice looking deer on here. I'm jealous. Good luck guys. UNDBowhunter
Here are some trail cam pics from my camera in Northern MN...don't have to worry about me editing these because it is hard enough for me just to put them on this post!!! TrophyEyes
Does the bottom deer have matching split G2's? He has mass, do you know how old that deer is? He could be pretty awesome in the next year or two. It would be very impressive if he stayed wide and didn't turn in.
MNRookie78
Now that's what I'm talking about! I'm hoping to have some good pics on the cam this weekend when I head back N. If I have some good ones I will post them early next week. If I'm lucky you'll see one from the cam and one with an animal held in my hands
UNDBowhunter
Yeah it has matching split g-2's. He is a 10 pointer... I don't know the age but I am guessing 3 1/2 years old ??? Any suggestions?
GoggleEye
I don't mean to go back to the wide racked monster brow tine buck from Wisconsin that everyone is doubting as real, but I would be willing to bet this deer is real if it is from Buffalo or Trempeleau county (or one of the western counties in the mississippi river basin). I used to hunt down in Crawford and Vernon county in Wisconsin and the bucks I would see in that area are freaks! It's hard to believe until you experience it firsthand. Unfortunately, my friend sold his cabin and land and I have not been able to hunt there since 2004, but bucks like that one are actually pretty common.....maybe not AS wide as this one, but to say it is photoshopped is probably not true. I will be hunting down in Crawford county for the first time in 4 seasons again with my bow and I will try to get pics of some of these freaks and post them on here. Who knows, maybe I will be able to stick one of them and get a really good pic for ya. These old mature monsters aren't very easy to harvest though, especially in the bluff country. I never even got a shot at one during the years I hunted there in the past. Most of the big studs are taken with a gun there and I don't gun hunt in that area....wish I could though. Good Luck this year all!GoggleEye
TrophyEyes
Let him walk if it is in an area where no one else is going to shoot him. He will be amazing next year. If he has the split G2 genetics, it may be cool to let him breed one more year and get those genetics in your heard if thats what you want. Can you imagine that deer as a 6 1/2 year old buck? That guy is carrying some mass as a 3 1/2 year old, give him 2-3 more years and you will have a wall hanger.
jbdragon17
Right on with that...He doesnt look very old. If you have the will power...Pass! I would guess it would be tough to do
jlm
I am certainly not stating this regarding any of the pics posted thus far but I just wanted to mention that many of the pics we see from trail cams and on magazine covers are farm raised or penned deer. Personally I love to look but they do not hold the same fascination I have for free roaming, wild deer. In WI, there are numerous high fence operations. I had two friends go out and they shot two buks in a couple of days, one in the high 150's and one in the low 170's. Very impressive deer for sure. Neat to look at but personally they are penned deer hunted over bait! Just not the same thing! At least for me anyway!
BLACKJACK
96 as long as we're whining here I wish the moderators would fix any photos that are too big and force you to scroll back and forth. Basically the large pictures ruin the thread because it gets to be such a pain to scroll dowm, scroll over, scroll back, scroll down... It gets to the point where I don't bother to read the posts, whether they're about Rompola bucks, photoshop, or whatever.
GoggleEye
There are some high fence penned operations over there in western wisconsin, which I don't care for that much myself either. That is a pretty unethical way to kill a trophy and then go around bragging about it, but there are still a great amount of once in a lifetime bucks running around that area. All the deer I saw while hunting over there were all free-roaming deer and some of them were big enough to almost make you shat yourself and fall out of your treestand.
