slick814
zamboni - I have to wholeheartedly disagree on your choice of drummers with the exception of Bonzo. He'd be second, right behind Neil Peart. Third would be a tie between a bunch of guys... Keith Moon, Lars Ulrich, Troy Luccketta from Tesla are all pretty awesome. Tommy Lee is good, but he's just a notch below the rest of these guys. As far as bands of all time go...Zeppelin is and always will be the greatest of all timeWithout Black Sabbath, there's be no metal as we know it. And to be honest, I'd have to say that Wings was McCartney's best band... sorry Beatles fans, they just never really did it for me.
I_Love_Nuge
My top ten would have to be: Metallica Pink Floyd Styx Ted Nugent Jethro Tull Lynard Skynard Bob Dylan Led Zeppelin Guns n Roses Nirvana I can't believe no one has mentioned Godsmack! They are probably 11th on my list. Good hard metal. Probably one of my top 5 songs all time would have to be Red Rider's "Lunatic Fringe". I could listen to that song all day. It makes me want to go out and wrestle again being that it was on the movie "Vision Quest".

zamboni
SLICK- you apparently have never, ever listened to Stryper. Put the religious stuff aside- Oz Fox was a GREAT guitarist, and Robert Sweet was an excellent drummer, hands down. Lars Ulrich is a long ways up there as well. Heres Robert and his AWESOME drum layout from back in the day: And White Lions version of Radar Love which features some sweet drumming and guitars ala Vito Bratta and D'Angelo:
zamboni
Oh yeah- the Black Sabbath thing- if it weren't for The Beatles, there would have been no Sabbath, Ozzy himself has said so himself numerous times.
Noahsark
Seeing as the question is "Best rock and roll band of all time", my one vote without a doubt.... Led Zeppelin I agree with Slick814 “Zeppelin is and always will be the greatest of all time” period. They transcended anything that came before and paved the way for what is known as “rock & roll” and “heavy medal” today. They are just simply in another league, never to be matched. The only other bands, that I can think of, that rise above the pack include; Pink Floyd, The Doors, and Tool. Most of the rest of the pack are just a bunch of cover bands of one another (with few exceptions…Jethro Tull, Nirvana, RHCP, RATM for example). None of which come close to the brilliance that was and is Zep! My humble opinion anyway. Studer – great record collection, FYI the Marshall Tucker Band is playing at the LCO casino March 9th (for 15 bucks you can’t go wrong). Best boy band of all time? The Beatles (without a doubt) Other transcendental artists that don't fit in the Rock&Roll category; Sinatra, Marley, Willie Nelson, James Taylor. zamboni
I am a HUGE Beatles fan- but I think that Led Zepplin II is truly the best rock album ever.

Huskiedevle
Bobby Ingram is the lead guy of the new Molly Hatchet. I picked up a used CD of the new band, a German disc, and the new band does not cut it playing the original Molly Hatchet tunes. The original band members did it right. Nobody jams like Dave Hlubek,Duane Roland, and Steve Holland did in their day. In fact I am listening to Molly Hatchet 'Essentials'(original band) as I type this. All I am saying is don't confuse the new PETA goofballs in this band with the original members.Too many other best rock bands to list, that I have listened to over the years. Molly Hatchet takes the prize for southern rock, no doubt about it.

DinkADunk
Well the best R&R band of all time is the band you like the most For me, the best R&R bands of all time are those bands that made me stop what I was doing and listen. It was those bands that made me and my friends say "oh (Contact Us Please), how'd he do that!". It's those bands that made me lock my self in my room and work on my guitar (later bass) until my hands crampted up or fingers started bleeding. My favorites (most influential) would be, in no particular order. YES Led Zepplin Frank Zappa James Marshal Hendrix (god) Beatles Iggy and the Stooges Crosby, Stills, Nash, and Young Who Grateful Dead Van Halen David Bowie Santana Of course that would be R&R bands. Any R&R guitar player would also have to acknowledge influences from other genres and my top would be; James Brown James Jamerson (Mowtown bass player for all of the great songs recorded on Mowtown) John Coltrane Parliment B.B. King Albert Collins Charles Mingus Jackson 5 (even some of Michael's albums are really good) Although I really like AC/DC, Gun's and Roses, and some of the bands mentioned I find them to be great bands but rather derivative.
