Mike Walerak
Here is my buck from this season. My personal best and by far the most exhilerating hunt I had ever been on. There were nearly 100 deer in the cornfield, roosters crowing, geese in the background and bucks beating the dump out of each other. At one point there were 3 wallhanger bucks in range but did not present any shots. I shot the second biggest one just after a bigger one showed him who was boss. IT was a 5x7 (notice the triple brow tines) and scored in the low 150's. I can't show a picture of the deer with out showing the stand I shot him from. Can you say "You might be a Redneck"! This buck was the first one ever taken from this stand. With bucks in full rut I really think it was the deer antlers that attracted him to 40 yards mw
Double D
Now that is unique. Looks like you should be able to take it right off and slide her onto the lake for ice fishing.DD
harvey lee
Very nice buck Mike. If you put some wheels on the front of your truck you could then have one heck of a road hunting blind. New truck this year.
snapcrackpop
Reddog, could you tell us how you stalk in the corn?I'm fairly new to bow hunting and if I had snow I would love to be able to walk up on them like that.Maybe start a new thread.Corn cammo or just white, with the rows or across?thanks
reddog
snap,I'd be glad to, but I agree, it should be a new thread.Corn field hunting doesn't require snow, just wind.
USDA3
Walerak!!!! Got yourself a nice buck, now if you only figured out how to catch the eye's on a consistant basis you'd be in the money! matthothand
Well it got down to the wire and I was obligated to fill my last tag as part of a deer reduction hunt. I passed up LOTS of bucks, some into the 130's, in hopes of getting a 150 or better. At one point I had a 170"+ monster at just over 50 yards. I never got the opportunity though. I hunted long and hard and on private land I wouldn't have shot this buck, but since it was a management hunt for the city this little buck made for a happy ending to a great season. Sure I would've loved to have shot one of those "nice" bucks that I passed earlier but you can't shoot big bucks by shooting "nice" bucks...you have to put in the time and be there when the deer are. I did that and it didn't pan out for me. Now that I have bagged and tagged my 'trophy' (all three points of him) it's time to think about ice. Good luck to those still hunting the last two weeks of the season and congratulations to those who have filled tags and hung it up til next year! fishermn
Matt, congrats on the buck! Either way, I'm sure you'll agree it was a great season and a lot of fun out ther this year! See ya out there again next year! I almost filled my last doe tag tonight... Somehow this doe managed to get within 20 yards without me knowing she was there. Anyway, she busted me before I knew she was there and that was the end of that... A quick snort and she was gone...
shawn
I called in this 10 point 225lbs. buck with a primos hardwood grunter. I missed him early this year during archery season with my Swithback XT. I took him with one shot at 100+ yards with my 7mm Mag, during firearms. mnfishman
Wow there sure are a lot of nice pictures here. I didn't even know this thread was going. Anyway congrats to all of you who had success this year. I wanted to show you a picture of my buck that I shot October 30th. I shot him on some state land south of Glenwood in Pope County. He is 13pt about 160" green and he weighed in at 187lb. This is my first buck with a bow and the the biggest buck I have ever shot. Sorry for the background I wanted to get a picture out in the woods but it was blowing 30 plus and it was about 15 degrees out not counting the wind chill. Barely got my wife to come out and take them in the yard. I guess that is what I get for marrying a San Diego gal.
harvey lee
mnfishman, very nice buck. That is one like the one I was chasing all fall and he never got quite close enough. Always next year.
Coach1310
mnfishman- That buck is a STUD!!! The best thing about it was it was shot on public land! Did you know he was around? Just curious if it was the buck you were after or not! Congrats
matthothand
I had bucks of that caliber up to 45 yards but never had the chance for a shot. Wish I wasn't so picky this year...wouldn't have had it come down to the wire and shot the spork. That is definately a hog though. Congrats on the nice buck! DJE_BL
Well after a little password trouble, I can finally log on and post this picture. He was taken on Novemer 10th at 9 am in Zone 2 area 215. He was the 5th buck I had seen that morning. I hit him a little far back, twice. The second shot was actually closer, about 50 yards. I guess the nerves got to me , but thats hunting. He dropped after about 50 yards back at the exact spot he came from. Funny thing is a spike came about 5 minutes later and stared at him for about 5 minutes from about 5 yards were he lay. He weighed 185 and has a 18 1/2 spread.
