Recommendations for a 2 man flip over house...

Any ideas on a good 2 person fish house to look out for?

I just want one with nice seats and room to pull it out on the built in sled with all my gear/auger.

I will look out as they will be going on clearance very soon :-)

I would shy away from a Frabil Ranger XLT 2 man. I have owned mine for 2 and a half years now and It's not holding up very well. I try and take care of my Ice fishing gear because it's expensive and I want it to last. I can't say that any other ice shack will hold up any better because I do use my ice fishing gear alot but last year I sat in a Clam 2 man pull over shack and thought maybe I should have bought it instead of the on I got. The seats are really comfortable and I like the way they adjust and the shack itself is very nice. Just remember, everyone is different and maybe the shack I like someone else hates it, so it's best if you look them over yourself and find the one that best fits your needs.

I guess it's my turn to throwa plug in for the Otter sled system. I really love the "cabin" sized one. It says it's a 2 man house but I reaaly like it for just me. You could do 2 people but it would be tight. Also that house seems to heat really nice. I use the heater/cooker in it, so it sits on the floor and gives more heat towards the ice. I just use a small block of a 2x4 to point it up and not melt my floor so much. I think the canvas seems to be a bit thicker than other models. As far as hauling gear, I can haul everything in this model! In mine "cabin" I put a 20lb tank in a milk crate, heater head, a folding directors chair, 10inch jiffy auger, a 5 gallon bucket, tackle bag, and a scoop! When I used my 50watt bulb I even threw in a trolling motor battery. Throw the cover on it, hook it up to a sled or 4-wheeler with the hitch, and go!!! IMO it is a very slick way to go!

The Otter Lodge is very well built, durable and plenty of room for two guys. Yes they are more expensive but they're going to last longer too. I'd imagine your going to start seeing sales now and in another month year end clearance sales.

I have to say I think my Otter Cabin is perfect for two people. Before I bought it I thought I wanted the Lodge because of the extra room but that doesn't fit in the back of my Jeep. I'm glad it wouldn't fit though because the Cabin is plenty big, plus it's lighter and less expensive than the Lodge. It is very luxurious when I'm out by myself though.

I second ta[PoorWordUsage]. Otter II Medium Cabin all the way. Big enough, yet small enough. Durable, but light. The tub is plenty big enough for heater, etc... and gear for 2.

Nordic by Polar Sport makes a nice 2 person sled house. You get 2 swivel seats with it and the price is decent. You can accessorize with a cover, hyfax runners, and a towing hitch. One nice thing is the top of the sled is flat so you can slide the seats farther apart. Downside is the nose is a little steeper so it doesn't pull quite as well in fluffy snow.

Another vote for the Otter II Medium Cabin. It actually IS big enough for two, and especially roomy when going solo. Top of the line quality. Just don't fall for the Wilderness Series Walleye. Much lower quality and sled shape doesn't allow seats to be placed far enough apart. I've pulled my Cabin 1/2 mile by hand and can't imagine trying to haul anything larger. 20% off sales are already pretty common. That would put the sled, skin, 2 swivel seats and cover down around the $400 range. Worth it at twice the price, but don't tell my wife I said that...

Otter Lodge all the way. The cabin isnt big enough to fit my Auger in. Plus 2 guys my size arent comfortable in the cabin. Polar Sport also makes some good portables.

Just to be different, I have to say the Clam Yukon is my choice. It has some nice features that really make fishing easier. Everything is right where it needs to be. It holds up well and handles great in tough conditions.

The Otter Med. Cabin is the way to go. Just big enough if the wife wants to go, but yet small enough to throw around by yourself. A friend of mine has the Polar Sport a size bigger, but is going to buy the Otter medium cabin because the Polar is just too big to lug around by himself.

Plus the canvas is thicker than most others, and the square tube frame is alot sturdier.

The Frabil's have the nicest seats. They are like having a lazy-boy out on the ice.

I have an Eskimo Quick Flipp II and that is a pretty nice unit. I also have an Otter Small Den (that is a large single man) and that is a nice unit too.

I went with the Otter Skin on the otter sled. The large size which is some what the same size or bigger than the Otter lodge 2. I like it very much.

Mamohr my Nils just lays down flat in my Mag Lodge. If you dont care about your auger tilting up and resting on the motor and blades only then it should fit. In my lodge the Nils lays perfectly flat from the back to the front bend in the tub. Another 1" on the auger and it wouldnt lay flat in there. Any other auger on the market should fit in the cabin though I would think. Sorry if my post was confusing.

I have had a Fishtrap Voyager for 4 seasons now. I love it! The standard plastic seats that came with it are comfortable. My auger fits nicely inside, lots of space when it is deployed. Seems to be holding up well, I spend most of my ice fishing season dragging it around behind a sled/atv. No rips yet, no wear on bottom, nothing broken. I did add the wear strips on the bottom knowing that I would be towing it a lot. Fits in the back of my F150. As mentioned earlier, look at them and find what features are important to you. All my buddies either run a smaller fishtrap or various Otters. I personally like the larger size for elbow room when fishing.

I was curious because I have the otter cabin and I was going to purchase a nilsmaster auger. I pull in the early season with a snowmobile and and it would be important to me that the auger fits in the ice house under my bench seat. Can anyone else tell me if the nilsmaster would fit under the bench seat in the cabin?

Another good one that I just got is the Otter Sled Wilderness series. I got the wilderness walleye this fall and so far I love it. It is very roomy even with two people in it. I usually fish by myself though and the extra room is real nice. The sled seems to be a lot more durable than the clam, frabill or eskimo ones too. Oh yeah and u cant beat the price, I picked mine up at fleet farm for like 320 bucks and it comes with a sled cover and two seats.

hey gander has there houses on sale right now,they are trying to get rid of them. i think the otter cabin was 350.00. good price
