Doug, sorry to hear of your loss! Times like these are very hard to get through I know. Take them one day at a time and know that our family (the Schmitz family and FM family) will keep your family in our thoughts and prayers as you navigate through these rough times. Be strong in his memory, for as hard as it is for you, it is harder for his wife and kids. Take care././Jimbo

Very sorry regarding your loss. Take care of yourself and offer what comfort you can to others. I had a friend drown this summer in a freak accident up here on Birch. Never should have happened but unsafe conditions were present. Please be careful everyone and my thoughts and prayers to the family.

Thought I would give all of you a little back ground on Jason. He lived in West fargo and played grade and high school football there while growing up. He was considered too small to play for the NDSU bison, but thats where he wanted to play. He perservered walking on first year and ended his career in football his senior year as a starter. He played from 1993 thru 1996. Jason has always been up-beat, enthusiastic to the point of being loud.LOL He has always loved family, friends and the outdoors.

WDAY TV news here in Fargo did a piece on Jason's football career, and his life. It was a very moving article on his life. My key-board is truely wet from tears. Jason did not have a father around growing up, and I never had any children. He truely was like a son to me and I a father to him. It was a very special relationship that we both cherished.

There has been a memorial fund set up for Owen and Carter. Owen is just about 1 and Carter is turning 4 on Thursday. If you feel so inclined you may send memorials to Gate City Bank

Jason Witt memorial fund.

Thank you all for your prayers and encouragement. I can't tell you how much it means to our family. For anyone interested the news article it will be repeated again this evening on the 10:00 news and sports on WDAY Fargo..
