Sad in Mankato EVERYTHING STOLEN!

I live in Mankato, and I was niave I guess and had my boat in the apartments garage. I had everything but the motor stolen out of my boat. Electronics, 15 years worth and 3 generations of tackle, brand new reels, and other equipment. I am supposed to take my Grandfather who is coming up from Iowa this weekend fishing. But now I have nothing. I cannot explain the feeling in my gut that some selfish person out there has given me. I could not even work this afternoon. The timing could not be worse to be robbed. If I didn't have my trailer locked, and the engine locked down securely I think they would have stolen the whole deal. I do not have the money to replace everything tommorow. We will have to fish this weekend with the bare minimum.

I just wanted a venue to vent. I cannot even get angry, I am just crushed, and sadened.

At least my grandfather is alive and we can enjoy fishing with each other again, and make memories with what we have.

Fishing gear is not just money, and not just something to be stolen and put on HSOList or pawned off. Your stealing someones memories, and a part of what makes them who they are. That is the part that insurance, and the money that will have to be saved cannot replace. I hope they enjoy the disposable camera with pictures of me and my family fishing that they stole.

If you see a white alumacraft basicaly stripped to the bones on Saturday with an old man, a middle aged, man and a twenty something on lake Washington. Feel free to say hi.

- Crushed in Mankato.

Where in Mankato are you guys? Is this concentrated to a certain part of town? How are the theives gaining entry to the garage?-Just curious...I hate to get stuff stolen it sucks! Just want to make sure my stuff is protected here.Keep your eyes on the pawn shops,...call the up and give them a list of what got stolen, and watch the people around you.

I feel your pain Cyclone. I've been robbed a few times over the years. Lost a lot of tackle, expensive rods & reels, motor, broken windows etc. I wish they'd crack down on these crackheads a little harder. mad.gif

Sorry for your loss. Here in my local neighborhood, Upper north, their were three local break ins. They got a wide range of stuff. I would have to believe it may be a new batch of freshman may have moved into town, as one lost their school books out of a vehicle.

I hear for your lose and sure hope that you can make the best of what you have. I know it stinks to have things taken, it has happened to me on two occasions and it was well over $100 each incident. I know it's not $1,000's like you are talking about.....but I know the feeling. mad.gif

As for the future comments, remarks.....let us keep this a friendly, family atmosphere. Gestures and swearing about certain groups of people are not tolerated.

I live in Lower North Mankato and since June we have had multiple sightings of people looking in the back of garages around our neighborhood. Neighbors telling neighbors that they saw people in and around their garages and backyards during the middle of the day. One of my neighbors recently gave us a heads up to keep our garage door closed during the day as someone right down the street was recently robbed of the same kind of stuff right in the mid-day hours. It appears they are preying on people when they are away at work. I hope they catch and prosecute to the fullest. Sorry to hear about your loss. That would really suck.

that really bites! I had all my stuff stolen this spring. most of it was stuff, alot of stuff. But some had sentimental value. The biggest thing they stole was sercurity, it will be hard to ever regain that.

Sorry to hear that. I think those people are lowest form of life.

I know you are a long ways from Monticello, but I have a couple of extra rod and reels I could loan you for a few weeks if you have a way to get them. If not, I'm sure some locals will chime in to help out a FM Brother in need.

This hasn't happened to me as yet, knock on wood, but it has to really suck.

From what I've been told by the local police in Rochester is that the stolen property will usually show up in a larger city such as Chicago. That is if the thief is not going to use the items themselves.

Here in Rochester we've had a rash of people snooping around open garages during the middle of the day. They simply cruise an area, notice a garage door open, drop off a person, he then walks into the garage and grabs whatever he can and leaves, jumps back in the car and off they go. The entire time is less then a minute.

Good reason to keep your garage door closed even if you're mowing your lawn or can't see the door from where you're at.

Here's hoping things work out and good luck.

I live near Rogers and have plenty of extra gear I would loan you. I know the times to short for us to make contact but some of you loyal fishingminnesota people that live close give this guy a break for the weekend. I was at Bearskin Lodge about 15 years ago for a week the last night I was there someone took my tackle box out of the boat by the cabin. The owner of the lodge said it was a first, but, the lake has an access to the boundary waters and he figured someone came to portage into another lake took it. The good news was on Sunday night he called me and said someone had left my tackle box at the dock of the public landing. He sent it to me. This reminds me now that with a digital camera I need to take pictures of everything, fishing and hunting. I have way more than I did back then.

Well, we had a similar experience although what we lost were just tackle. We had kept them in the apartment garage for a year without any problem but one day, it happened. We found all the fishing stuff stolen. I guess, if it is not secured, it will eventually be stolen. So we just have to be real careful.

I am sorry to hear about everyones losses. I have just recently grabbed a lockable cabinet from my sisters garage that she was no longer using. I guess I know what I am going to put in there after I bolt it to the wall.
