Dakota Iceman
wondering if anyone can point me to links concerning gear bags. Seems like last year it was the revolution...but Im having a hard time finding any links. Iceman out>
Dan Thiem
Last year I got one from JR's. That thing is the best constructed gear bag I've seen by far. I really can't imagine how I ever got along without it. Check them out. JR's Rod & Gear Bag - Click Here
hanson
Iceman- I've got the Revolution and love it! When you spend as much on ice fishing rods as some of us, you need that kind of protection for them, especially if they are bouncing around in your fish house. Dakota Iceman
Thanks Hanson, I will be having one of those this season! Is it really that time already??? I hate this time of year cuz no-one has their equipment out yet. Thanks again, Iceman.
Matt Johnson
You will like the Revolution by Stone Legacy. I will typically run with 2 Revolutions when out on the ice, and that will cover just about every situation a day on the ice will throw at me. Whether you're targeting panfish, walleye, bass, pike, catfish... I'm equipped for the challenge. You can run 8 rods with reels (if you break-down the reels) in each bag for travel and such, or else 4 rods with reels will fit in there with comfort and ease. Now, it's always nice to have a secure place for your rods while out on the ice, and the Revolution does just that, BUT, it doesn't stop there. The Rev will also hold all of your tackle as well. With a zip-down compartment (which is totally separate from where the rods are stored) it allows you to house a ton of stuff. When I head out on the ice, I just throw my Revolution in the Otter and go. No rod buckets, no tangled mess (because each rod has it's own little compartment with dividers) and a nice, neat rod/gear bag that holds everything I'll need for a day on the ice. It's nice to know that I can toss my rod bag around a little without worrying about breaking anything. With a hard shell surrounding just about every inch of the rods you put in it, the Revolution will keep your rods safe from harm.An excellent product! I'm looking forward to another great winter with my Revoultion!Good Fishin,Matt Johnson
Bob Horn
I have to agree with Hanson and MJ. The revolution is awsome. You can have all your gear on your back or just put it in your otter. Last year was the first time I used one and let me tell you no more buckets in my fish house.

Northlander
I really like my Revolution. All most too much room. It gets fairly heavy but stands up to any punishment I dish it. Stone Legacy also has some very nice custom Ice Bags. I have a bag for my longer bigger reeled laker rods and I love it.
Captain B.R.K
Though I haven't personally pulled the trigger yet on the Legacy bags, they are nice! For now I have a couple of bags, I think they still make em, that store about 3 rods in each manage-ably and has some PVC on the upper part of the bag so it saves on the ferrules, rod tips and the rod itself. Sorry I don't have the name of the company.....all my stuff is sitting down at my parents place in storage SHAME ON ME HUH
Jim Hudson
My vote too goes to the Stone Legacy Revolution. Quality product, that not only protects your ice fishing equipment but allows you to easily transport your gear on the ice or on land.If you buy one, you will not be disappointed!! Deitz Dittrich
I bought a Revolution last year, and am actually thinking of getting another one. Simply put.. Awesome! At this point I have my panfish rods in one side, and my pike/walleye rods in the other. ALl the gear fits quite easy in the main pouch. Thats all I can ask of a rod bag. CrappieJohn
Jrs has a couple of options and both are agreeable as far as use goes. I have both and, depending on what I am fishing, one or the other will be with me. And the money one will save can go nicely towards some of the other ice-fishing gear found at JRs. augernaut
I have a softsided back very similar to the JR's bag (also just like a Croxton Pond bag). It's very nice, however every time I see a picture of the Revolution I want it. I lust after hardsided rod protection, high dollar equipment demands it. This might have to be the year I pick one up....
fisherdog19
Revolution hands down, I had a JR's bag and it was not as sturdy nor did it protect as well as the Revolution. You won't be sorry.

Northlander
Son I guess you dont have many high end rods to protect? A duffle bag? Like Dietz said its a accident waiting to happen.
Deitz Dittrich
NLander- Glad I wasn't the only one. Like You said for some people a duffle bag would totally suffice. Myself probably 10 years ago, with my 4 rods or so, I could have broke a rod and thought "bummer" I broke a rod. Now I have quite a few custom rods. Ones that cost around $75 or so dollars. Still not as much as many of my open water rods. But still ultra sesitive rods, that I have come to adore just the same. Loosing one of my Midwest Rods would more than cause a tear to my eye!So a good rod bag is a must!!!!!
WalleyeStriker
I have 2 bags at all times! I hate going with the buds and having them switch species on me, or tackle. And then you have to cut you lines, switch lures, and bait! This way regaurdless of weather, equiptment, and species I am ready to go!
Big Daddy 14
I have taken a J.R.'S bag with 6 rod and reel combo's and stepped on it without hurting one of the rods. I have also taken the revolution and done the same(only 4 rod combo's) and the eyes on the rods were flattened. I know you don't often stand on your rods but that was just a test that I did. I think the J.R.'s bag will hold more. Just my opinion. I think they are only 30 bucks. Good Luck!
BDR
I keep 8 combos in my JR's bag. Never had anything broken. Even with that many combo's I still fit in 2 med plano boxes loaded with tackle.
Dennis Steele
I have two bags. The Revolutuion and the JR's bag. Both very nice bags. I personally prefer the JR's bag. I like the design and find it easier to get at my stuff and carry more of it. When I get to a spot, I'll just unzip the rod compartment and leave it open to choose whichever rod has the hot lure attached to it. (I'd rather have 8 rods all riged and ready to go than to have to tie on a new lure) I think the padded sides do a good job protecting my gear as well. Never broke a rod or snapped a tip in the JR's bag. I'm not jumping on it,
Northlander
For sure Deitz. I have many rod bags but none I like as much as my Stone Legacy's. The only 1 that I think protects as well is my old Otter rod suitcase but that thing wayed a ton even empty. Its in the Garage collecting dust someplace. kudu63
I use a bow/arrow hard side plastic case. I can get 6 to 8 rods (up to 30 inches), several jiggle sticks and two of those small plano tackle boxes - one for regular hooks and one for jigs. Extra corks and even my polar vision depth finder in it. It comes with foam inserts and I removed two of them from on side and glued them into the other side - these work great for holding the rods and sticks in place. Costs about $20 at Gander.
