JIvers
Could we just fire this bonehead now, and get things going in the right direction? Three seasons of losses to bad teams, late season collapses, and idiotic calls--Moss passing the ball on a season-turning play? And how much more crappy play on defense does McCombs need to see? This team has no discipline what so ever, and that is the fault of the coach. Of course, crappy play leads to lack of fan support, which leads to a potential move to Los Angeles...maybe there is a reason McCombs keeps this moron on. Fire Mike Tice NOW!!!He is a horrible coach who can't get his players to perform--DUMP THIS (Contact US Regarding This Word)!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I have had it with seeing the Vikings blow games they should win easily!
mnvikingsfreak
I'm sick of his excuses his famous one is "we didn't make enough plays" you can only say that so many times when you blow game after game

JIvers
Quote: the vikes should play for the number 15 draft pick bring back denny green! I got the joke about bringing back Denny Green (it was a joke, wasn't it?). The funny thing is Denny Green could at least get the Vikings in to the playoffs before he choked. Denny was a good coach in that he understood how to win games; he was a bad coach in that he couldn't handle pressure, and always made bad decisions in big games. And, he was a horrible judge of defensive talent. Luckily, Green is now stuck with the Cardinals, so we don't have to put up with his choking problem anymore. Problem is, we are stuck with Mike Tice, who is a bonehead. When I hear the term "players' coach" used for guys like Tice, I think "bad coach", because coaches like Tice do not have the respect of their players. Sure, they like playing for Tice--who doesn't like an easy boss? The worst part is, the Vikings will probably make the playoffs. As I write this, the Lions are actually beating the Packers, and the rest of the NFC sucks, except for the Eagles. So, the Vikings will probably get a wild card spot, and lose, because their defense is awful. It will be enough to knock them down in the draft, and probably save Bonehead's job. LuciandTim
Before anyone chimes in and attempts to defend Tice just tell me and us this...what has he done????Get rid of him...The guy has done nothing for our team. Given Denny Green this current team, I believe we would be better off. Not saying I would like him back but just in comparison.
blue_healer_guy
The one that got me today was the challenge on 3rd and 1". You have a 265lb Qb. Duh!!!!!! I'm still shaking my head on the Moss interception. Isn't he a receiver? Probably not pencilheads call on that one tho.
Stratosman
He consistantly gets outcoached, how bad does can s defense get, I mean how many years in a row can we rank among the worst defenses in the leage? Offensive powerhouse Chicago ran up and down the field on us last week and this week they score 3 f'n points? It's embarassing, almost to the point I can't even watch the games anymore because I already know what's gonna happen. I agree, Tice is not head coach material. We have such a awesome offense with great players, but stupid decisions and play calling and senseless timeouts kill us every time. It doesn't take a genius to figure out the blame has to start. lawdog
I actually like Tice, but he's just not a head coach. The game/clock management is abissmal! The defense never improves! The play calling on the Moos interception beyond comprehension (although that's Linnehan)! AND worst of all, aside from the little things, we ALWAYS play down to our level of competition. In order to succeed in this league you have to beat the teams that you are supposed to beat. Seattle hasn't been able to beat ANYONE in a month but they beat us. The Cowboys put 45 points up on that D last week and our supposedly daunted offense can only produce 23?!?!??!!!!!!!!These guys suck!!!!!!Oh and PS for you Packer morons, you are going nowhere in the playoffs either so just shut up. The Eagles made you guys look like a high school team last week!
bucketmouth64
Tice is not head coach material. He thinks too much like a ball player thus he is too chummy with them. That is why a players coach never works in the NFL (not for long in Tice's case). This type of coach works good in college, look at Pete Carroll at USC. Tice is the same cut. I think that Miss. State special teams coach is looking better for him. But, I think we have no other choice but to stomach the rest of he season with Tice and his excuses about making plays. Cottrell is possible interim head coach material but he can't even get his defense to improve. So there is no improvement there. This team needs a decisive leader and proven winner whether that be from NFL or college. We go from do it my way in Green to one of the boys in Tice. Heck Bud would do better...at least make better decisions. He came back once to mop up after a coach, he can do it again.
MNice
Red will never fire him because He could not get another head coach without spending more money. As far as playing down to our competition, FACE IT, we're NOT a good team. We are at best a above average team, thats it. I always get a kick out of the pre-season predictions of 13-3, 12-4 etc., I just don't understand what these people were looking at. Check the history, same results, different team. Down to Earth
I have to agree with MNice. As long is McComb is only concerned about how much money he's going to make off the sale of the Vikings I think Tice's job will be safe. Should it be "NO". He should have been gone after last year, and definately should be gone after this. The other bad thing about this organization, is who would want to coach this team? The only person who would is someone who is desparate. No reputable coach will take the kind of money McComb would be willing shell out. The best thing that could happen to this organization is:1. McCombs sells or 2. McComb decides to build a winner, fire Tice, and bring in a legitimate head coach.
Markley
Does anyone else yell when the (Contact US Regarding This Word) throws the red flag? I can't stand him. muskybuck
I think you are dead on. I doubt if the Vikings will see a good coach until they are called the San Antonio Vikings, or the Los Angeles Vikings or whatever. There are a lot of good coaches out there to pick from but the owner does not want one (yet).
bullyfish
I mostly just cruise around this site but thought I would put in my two cents....Coaches can only coach players who WANT to improve and have a healthy fear of what will happen if they do not play up to their potential. I am in Dallas (and a Cowboy hater) and look at the coaching here...BP is a GREAT coach with a team who REFUSES to play. Randy and Culpepper KNOW that they will not be traded or even repremanded if they play bad...They collect their paychecks whether or not the teams win. Maybe if the NFL said that the players of the winning team got paid and the loosers get nothing we would see some changes...Till then...looks like another disappointing season (big surprise)! Just my thought folks...don't get too riled up :-)

2dalake
You Dallas fans have my sympathy. What a train wreck of a season. Don't tell my boss I said that though, he's a huge Cowboys fan. Named his cat Emmit. Everytime I see the Tuna in a press conference he looks like he's ready to keel over.

JIvers
The NFL likes keeping a franchise in the Twin Cities...but they want one back in Los Angeles even more. LA is too big of a market to ignore, no matter how screwed up the stadium or ownership deals may be. The Vikings also have one of the worst stadiums in the league, in terms of money generated by luxury suites. Personally, I just hate the Metrodome.I have heard on ESPN and elsewhere that the NFL wants to put a franchise back in LA by 2008. The NFL does not want to add another expansion franchise, so an existing team would have to move there. The four leading candidates are the Colts, Raiders, Chargers, and Vikings, all of whom have lousy stadium deals. Most likely, the Raiders will return there from Oakland. JHansel7
Okay, im probably gonna get ripped on here but im gonna say it, I like Mike Tice, i think hes great, who doesnt like a no-nonsense type of guy. Nobody said Moss has to throw that ball, he should have thrown it out of bounce, and if he would have completed it, tice would have been a hero. And to be honest, i dont think the best coach in the world could do anything with that defense, i mean talk about a bunch of bumbleing (Contact US Regarding This Word). I think i could run through the holes they leave open. And by the way the Vikings arent going anyway, who are we kiddings, its not like they arent making money here, the dome is sold out, sure it would be nice to get a new one but still. and by the way, hate to tell ya, but we will probably be watching mike tice for a couple more years. BackHerUp
Yes! Fire Mike Tice!! I couldn't agree with you Viking fans more!!! This would bring yet another head coach and staff with new philosophies and playbooks for the team to learn and struggle with for another couple years...giving my team an uninterrupted waltz to the division championship...in the meantime Randy Moss will become frustrated with the changes and leave for Philadelphia (or someplace with a shot at the "Super Bowl homeboy")... JIvers
I love it when Packers, Lions, or Bear fans give the Vikings advice. Of course they want the Vikings to keep a failure like Tice around. The Packers will get stomped again by the Eagles as bad as they did a week and a half ago, should it go that far, so I will enjoy watching that happen again. [sarcasm alert]As for the Lions, well, there is no history of failure there to talk about. [sarcasm done]
