The funny thing is he will be back on the team and they will get back to normal eventually. The vikings might have to try out another 17 QBs over the next 10 years and still not have a Rogers. ;-)

Actually in 10 years, we might not have just any old Rogers -- we might have THE Rogers. After the pack has moved on to the next great QB, the Vikes just might pick him up out of retirement like they did the silver fox.

Funny part of all this is both the vikings and packers defense sucks. Tolzein played OK and if the D had done its job the game could of been a win. A good QB is a way to win, but defense is still how games are won or lost.

Ironically, only bad since Rodgers was lost. The defense actually improved after the losses of Clay Matthews, Nick Perry, Brad Jones, Robert Francois, Sam Barrington, and without the services of our best CB in Casey Heywood. Once we lost Rodgers, the wheels went off the track.

An interesting study of fortunes to say the least

Actually ... that's not true. In the seven games with Rodgers this season the Packers averaged 28min 02sec time of possession. In the two games without Rodgers, they've averaged 29min 22sec time of possession.

I don't think that you're far off on your theory, especially the last line. While the Packers may still be relatively even on time of possession, they aren't scoring as much. In the past the defense could focus on passing situations as teams struggled to keep pace with Rodgers. Now teams are enjoying leads and aren't as one dimensional in the 3rd and 4th quarters. That's just my theory though, and up for debate

I'm still here. Losing Rogers is obviously a hit. I think if Wallace wasn't such a pansy, he could have at least won half the games while Rogers was out... and Wallace is terrible and always injured! Tolzien? really? Few practice squald guys are going to come in and be productiove in the NFL.

The rogers injury is only the tip of the ice berg... Barclay and dietrich-smith, Bulaga and tretter are injured on the line, along with Cobb and Finley. So 7 starters on Offense. I think I read last week we had 8 on the injured list on Defense. And our defense is suspect to begin with.

So heaping it all on the Rogers injury is hoowee. If we had a decent back-up (even a Wallace level and again... I was never a fan) and at least half the guys on the injury list back, we'd still be in contention. There is not an NFL team that can continue to play competitve football when half their first and second string go down to injury...

I'd actually be good putting Rogers on IR, name Tolzien as starter for the rest of the season to prep him to be our back-up. Good Bye Wallace. It'd be nice have a draft pick in the top half of the league. Probably been 20 years since that happened for the Packers. They are always picking late in every round / every year. We need a lot of help on defense, maybe we can pick up some true rookie talent earlier in the draft next year. Even if we get rogers back in the next week or two, so many others are injured that it really would be a tough road to make the playoffs... and even tougher road to win a playoff game. One more loss and we would most likely be vying for a wildcard spot at best.

Good Luck!

Bad QB play is one thing... bad defense is a whole nother. I'll take bad QB play over no defense! Stopping the other team from scoring is paramount. Shootouts can be lost. The Packers proved that against the Cardinals a few years back. Rogers alone WILL not win you every game. He'll win you a lot of games, but you still need a viable defense. As the defense continues to get injured the ball of twine really starts to unravel!

Good Luck!

Looks like the Packers D is shabby as well. And the coaching not much better...

Why do the GB fans always use the excuse of injured players. We all have them. Maybe GB has more than most and it's the way they run the team that causes it....food for thought.

Good thing GB has the hope of getting Rodgers back in time because without him they are just plain bad all around.

Excuse? or fact? half your starters are out is hardly and excuse... and yes the Packers have failed miserably finding a Safety. That needs to be addressed this year. and another competent CB would be nice to too.

I agree, McCarthy better look at his conditioning of playters and his no contact/tackling training camps. I believe that is part of the continuing problems with injuries.

Good Luck!

What can we say, we are losing without Rodgers. There's no secret in the NFL about how important an elite QB is to winning. At least he will be back in a few weeks and the division is still wide open.

...and Rick, despite your trolling, we are all still here. This thread has gotten the same traffic all season. We don't abandon our team as quick as others. Nice try though.

You might still be here but Rodgers isn't at this time and without him the Pack, offense, defense and their coaches are just ho hum - at best.

Your GMs picks are also exposed for what they really are....very bad unless paired with a high octane QB. smile

That's what happens when teams and fans have HOF QB's. They think the coaching rules, and the draft picks are so awesome when in reality if you lose your Franchise HOF QB you suck. Packers without Rodgers are like the year the Colts lost Manning.

Couple pages back Skunked was saying how they can still win without Rodgers. LOL

Gay Rodge is one heck of a band-aid.

Ha... with the exception of the secondary, I can now see you are trolling!

Cobb

Jones

Nelson

Finley

Lecy

Matthews

Hawk

Williams

Yep! All very Bad! Good one!

I get it... when your team is the vomit bucket of the NFL, it's always easier to fling dump at an opponent than look at the mess you have to clean up... I'd take the Packer's line-up anyday of the week, and shore up a weak secondary and they again would need to be looked at as a Super Bowl contender. I can be objective and am hard on the packers with certain things, but sheesh, bad GM work? Thompson has proven his worth, Spielman? Seriously? There is a bad excuse as a GM

Good Luck!

2-8 vs. 5-5. We have a qb that was on the practice squad 3 weeks ago. You have had the same qb for 3 years. And we both have horrible a defense. In the end the queens and pack will be at the bottom of the NFC north. It makes me sick to say the queens will most likely win this weekend but either way I will be sitting in a deer stand.
