I love September! This is the time of the year when I get all giddy. Just like a kid before Christmas, I make wish lists for new stuff! Now, this list gets revised over and over , weekly, til October. As of right now I have the permenant top 3!

1. Frabill Ambush 2-3 man portable. Flat front and side doors!!!! CRAZY AWESOME IDEAS!!!

2. Vexilar FLX-28! Another power hose from Vexilar!!

3.Frabill 261 Straightline Reel. Free spool and interchangeable stem lengths!!

What are your top 3 for the new season?

2. A new birthday tripocation for the boy, Upper Red Lake

3. Hooking my brother in law on ice fishing, he is from Florida, but living in MN now

It is my favorite time of the year too. The days are getting shorter and hopefully a little colder. Not so much with the latter here lately but the season is getting closer. As for new gear I am at a loss for what i want to get but I think it will go something like this:

1. New clam jigs - they looked amazing and i want to try them

2. A new 1 or 2 man pop up fish house. The old one is showing its age and is getting quite a few holes in it that are no longer fixable.

3. A new heater would be nice. The old sunflower works well but i do think it is time to get something a little newer than that.

I am in the market for a new pop up shelter this year and have my eye on the Frabill Fishouflage Ambush Series outpost. Even though it's Fishouflage, it will be hard to hide out there on the ice grin Hopefully I can get a couple lakers landed in this shack this winter! It should fit great on the rack of my Bearcat as well!

For those with kids, Frabill has the new Ambush flipovers as well with the SideStep door system. I may have to give this one a try as well as my oldest son, 5 yrs old, loves hitting the ice. Much easier for them to slip out the side versus walking all over everything.

It's always great to see what new is out there and what everyone is looking at getting for the upcoming season. Now if we can just have all this ice talk make the thermometer drop as well! grin

Since I don't fish in a fish house, I'm just pumped for Ice Armor Lift Suit and Sub Zero Boots. For years I've been wearing my bow hunting rubber boots and now no longer have too. For all who go with the Sub Zero boos I recommend wear one pair of Merino wool socks and also use boot dryer's after each use. Your feet will stay warm. I've fished in -30 degrees with no issue.

Also, pretty excited for the Clam Drop Jigs.

The clam drill auger looks cool but I already have an ion so I probably don't need it.

I bought a new truck with the short 5' 8" bed so possibly a new smaller portable that will fit with the tailgate up and tonneau cover rolled up.

Is it just me or does it seem like there isn't as much new stuff this year? Do you think everything has been released yet for the most part?

Getting to 3 would be tough, - I don't count tackle for the wish list, I buy more every time I enter a bait shop

Here's the new stuff that I bought so far

Stryker Predator Floating Bibs

Perch Sweetheart

Clam 2 sided rod locker

3 things that I now need

1) a reel for the new perch sweetheart - leaning toward inline okuma 2/3

2) thermal hub shelter probably bigfoot 4000 but maybe the new JM

3) boots, leaning toward Ice Armor sub zero

So it took me 1.5 mos to figure this out, but I've settled on:

1. STRAIGHT LINE 261 BRO SERIES COMBOS - 30" or 36" LIGHT (undecided on length)

2. Frabill Pro Thermal Tip Up (bought 2 new last year and one of them doesn't unwind well (never has, even after taking apart and re-greasing frown ))

3a. Clam Bait bucket

3b. Hard Sided Rod Carrier (undecided on make, any suggestions?)

This will (thankfully) be my first year not making a significant capital investment at either of the ice shows. Will probably purchase all at the Blaine show this weekend due to ease of access to parking lot vs. St Paul.

See all of you there!

hopefully I will be adding to my upgraded combos in the past year, love em so much & I think they made a big difference.

would like to find a cheap used pop up so have opportunity to take kids sometimes and keep em warm, they have gone a couple times with me but hate the cold

@riverchucknorris.....I got a stryker case that holds 4 @ the TB show in sept., it is canvas/denier sided but quite compact for 4 rods plus little extra room, I will be using it for my early/late ice running/gunning outings, I have been using a hard sided gun case past 3 years but just gets too big/bulky for my little run n gun sled, stryker case is bout half the size

I just picked up the double sided clam case and I think it'll end up working well, I always bring too many rods and this will hold all of them. Honestly though I think if I had the $$ I'd buy 2 of their single sided rod cases so I could lighten it up a little bit early and late season
