I see the governor now wants to use a tax increase on cigarettes to pay for the billionaires' playground. What a great state! Take money from the poor, working and middle classes, who are participating in a legal activity, and fund the the pleasures of a New York billionaire.

I'm a Vikings fan, however I'm not a fan of how they are paying for this palace.

End of rant.

Back to the stadium...when it is -20 degrees outside and 70 degrees inside, will all those windows be completely covered in ice crystals and fog? Lester Bagley also stated that the clear panels on the roof are self cleaning. I'm interested to see how that turns out.

Aren't you sick of talking about how the stadium is being paid for? I think there is a thread on it already go there and bi$tch and moan.

I've been one who opposed public funding, so if they can build if under the funding pretext voted upon, go for it. If not, and we want to force people with no vested interest to fund it, perhaps put a $300 per year tax on persons with legal addresses from towns starting with "H"; maybe a newborn tax of $300 on each MN baby born and/or a similar coroner's fee when a resident is pronounced dead. Surely stadium/Vikings fans can get creative in getting others to fund their personal enjoyment. BTW, the 7500 workers involved condenses down to approximately 600 FTE's for a three year period. That won't put a large bump in unemployment rate stats.

My rant is done, too! eek

if they're so poor. maybe they should quit an expensive habit that increases health insurance costs for those working middle class folks wink

I love the stadium design. I'm also a star wars fan hence my screen name so I'm wondering is it just me or does the new stadium resemble the jawa's sand crawler!! Skol Vikings! Seriously google it, you be the judge.

It's also funny to read the jealous packer fans on here always putting it down. This venue makes Lambeau look like the toilet it truly is.

If you think the Twins clubhouse and training room is top of the line, you can only imagine what the players lounge and training room in this place will look like. The players have got to be excited for this.

I don't think packer fans care if they play at a high school field as long as they win a game that matters once and a while. But at least Vikes fans have a stadium to be proud of instead of a team. ;-)

What nobody here has mentioned yet is that the NFL may have peaked and the sport might be all but dead in 30 years. We don't know that.

It's been mentioned by you and other doomsdayers LOL for years that the NFL "No Fun League" is going by the wayside because of rule changes and other assorted issues!

But it just keeps on churning out record revenue through its popularity year in and year out.

I guess it's possible but not very likely IMO.

And in 30 years this one will be obsolete anyway and we'll need a New stadium. cool

And maybe just maybe that one will be 100 percent privately financed and the Great state of Minnesota will get to keep the 100's of millions in taxes that teams, entertainers and patrons bring in and spend in the Great State of Minnesota! ... grin

I like the new stadium and the design. Does it really matter where Zygi gets his money from? Bottom line is he will pony up 477 million dollars and that aint chicken scratch.

It's funny reading all the posts from the naysayers. Obviously its going to cost the state money to pay for the stadium, and I'm sure most of you would have rather just seen Wilf move the team somewhere else. Then everyone would complain and cry because we need another NFL team, so Minnesota puts in for an expansion team. Only way to get an expansion team is to have a state of the art stadium and then pay a HUGE franchise fee to the NFL for a team. And thats only IF they expand again. Even if another team wanted to relocate here.......you think they are coming to Minnesota if there isn't a brand new stadium built. Heck no. SO if looking at it that way, either be happy there is a new stadium being built and we will still be able to go to an NFL game......OR......sit at home and watch each and every game on the NFL Package on your TV and zip your lips.

OR...go fishing, hunting, bike ride, golfing, watch a gophers football game, go camping, cycling, canoeing, boating, skiing, snowmobiling, ice skating, hockey games etc.etc.. It's not like the Vikes are the only thing to do. wink Although it seems like on Sundays, there are lots of 40 and 50 year old males that like to dress up and pretend they're some mystical football player (while chugging beer like a college kid). crazy

+1 above. Lots of better things to do. I like to watch football too, but I can't stand to waste a whole afternoon doing it. SO, I listen to games on the radio WHILE I fish, work on a projects, or something much more meaningful in my life. But yes, there are certainly enough knuckle draggers around that think that if they dress up like idiots it might change the outcome of the game. Good for them- although I wish they were paying for the stadium and not the state.

The state is broke. I don't care what any other state or town has done to build stadiums before MN. MN royally F'd up by taking on this huge waste of time and money at a time we really can't afford it. This is and forever will be one major F up- which is ironically reflective of mosts Vikings seasons.

You're just upset they did not include a walleye sculpture there.

That's weird Atlanta's current stadium can't even be old enough to drink beer can it? It certainty isn't 20 years old. And they are going to just implode it!

Anyway the upside in revenue potential is much greater in Atlanta with Super Bowls, Final Fours, seat licensing, and a myriad of other potential events and that makes it more worth while for the owners to pony or phoney up a bit more. But make no mistake the owners are NOT paying 1 penny out of their pocket's or family's wealth, so get that out of your heads.

The Atlanta Falcon's will recoup those monies much faster than then the Vikings ever will.

And for the record I know I'm in the extreme vast minority as far as this whole stadium deal goes and its financing. I think it's a combo of being selfish and really believing there is some good and financial benefits that will come with it.

I certainly have no problem with anybody who thinks it's the biggest sham since Enron!

So my last cheap shot.....

GO VIKES!!!! grin

    • It’s done automatically.  You might need an actual person to clear that log in stuff up.   Trash your laptop history if you haven’t tried that already.
    • 😂 yea pretty amazing how b o o b i e s gets flagged, but they can't respond or tell me why I  can't get logged in here on my laptop but I can on my cellular  😪
    • I grilled some brats yesterday, maybe next weekend will the next round...
    • You got word censored cuz you said        B o o b ies….. haha.   Yeah, no… grilling is on hiatus for a bit.
    • Chicken mine,  melded in Mccormick poultry seasoning for 24 hours.  Grill will get a break till the frigid temps go away!
    • we had some nice weather yesterday and this conundrum was driving me crazy  so I drove up to the house to take another look. I got a bunch of goodies via ups yesterday (cables,  winch ratchet parts, handles, leaf springs etc).   I wanted to make sure the new leaf springs I got fit. I got everything laid out and ready to go. Will be busy this weekend with kids stuff and too cold to fish anyway, but I will try to get back up there again next weekend and get it done. I don't think it will be bad once I get it lifted up.    For anyone in the google verse, the leaf springs are 4 leafs and measure 25 1/4" eye  to eye per Yetti. I didnt want to pay their markup so just got something else comparable rated for the same weight.   I am a first time wheel house owner, this is all new to me. My house didn't come with any handles for the rear cables? I was told this week by someone in the industry that cordless drills do not have enough brake to lower it slow enough and it can damage the cables and the ratchets in the winches.  I put on a handle last night and it is 100% better than using a drill, unfortatenly I found out the hard way lol and will only use the ICNutz to raise the house now.
    • I haven’t done any leaf springs for a long time and I can’t completely see the connections in your pics BUT I I’d be rounding up: PB Blaster, torch, 3 lb hammer, chisel, cut off tool, breaker bar, Jack stands or blocks.   This kind of stuff usually isn’t the easiest.   I would think you would be able to get at what you need by keeping the house up with Jack stands and getting the pressure off that suspension, then attack the hardware.  But again, I don’t feel like I can see everything going on there.
    • reviving an old thread due to running into the same issue with the same year of house. not expecting anything from yetti and I already have replacement parts ordered and on the way.   I am looking for some input or feedback on how to replace the leaf springs themselves.    If I jack the house up and remove the tire, is it possible to pivot the axel assembly low enough to get to the other end of the leaf spring and remove that one bolt?   Or do I have to remove the entire pivot arm to get to it? Then I also have to factor in brake wire as well then. What a mess   My house is currently an hour away from my home at a relatives, going to go back up and look it over again and try to figure out a game plan.           Above pic is with house lowered on ice, the other end of that leaf is what I need to get to.   above pic is side that middle bolt broke and bottom 2 leafs fell out here is other side that didnt break but you can see bottom half of leaf already did but atleast bolt is still in there here is hub assembly in my garage with house lowered and tires off when I put new tires on it a couple months ago. hopefully I can raise house high enough that it can drop down far enough and not snap brake cable there so I can get to that other end of the leaf spring.
