Wonder how the battery life is going to be, having to light up that screen? Hope its LED back lit.

Looks cool. I do like the customization of it, but am wanting more of the features built into it as mentioned above - before I would upgrade.

Tough to argue with that. If they can stuff a decent GPS receiver in a small phone, it should have been easy with this.

I also think an input port for a camera that could be hot swapped with a transducer would be game changing.

They can do it, but they are holding out because they need to figure out how to configure it so that someone can't hack into it and get all of your favorite hot spots grin

Hey Neighbor_guy..

I just found what you are getting me for christmas brother!

Prob hang onto the LX5 for dad to use. But you know I am not gonna pass this up. Not a chance! My goal is to be one of the first five people who buy one!

Any ideas when these are gonna be for sale?

Looks nice, but in no way or manner does it make me feel like rushing out to buy one, at what im sure is going to be overpried at first. Looks like a glorified sonar unit to me. Might make for some good deals on the li-st of cr-aigs for people still without.

I cant wait! Having flasher and real time sonar on a split screen will be very cool to see. I hope there is no loss in sensitivity. Knowing Marcum they got it all worked out. Now to decide wether to sell my LX-5 or keep it as a extra for friends.

Nah, no point. It's not going to help me or my clients catch more lake trout, so it would be $600 down the drain for me. It's possible I might take a stab at one if I have the jing when I can find a great deal, thus having 2 on-ice units, but I'm more likely to wait a year or two anyway and hope they put GPS in the 7, which would make it a better ice/open water combo unit.

Why does "raising the bar" always mean raising the price? Because so many will pay it.

You missed my point. Raising the bar has resulted in a Marcum more expensive than the last Marcum. It has nothing to do with how the LX-7 compares with other brands.
In fairness to Marcum, this does offer more than what the LX5 did so an increase in price would make sense, I guess. BUT, the real key is, have they done enough to make it worth the $699 price tag? My prediction that many of the same people who jumped on the LX5 would jump on this too. Granted I am not saying that everyone who owns an LX5 is going to rush out and get the 7, just that there are always early adopters or people who need the next best thing out there. It appears as though this may be the best dedicated ice machine on the market, where it falls short for me is the lack of GPS. The price of this thing is the same as an HDS5 and I could certainly use that for everything. Granted there are things it wont do, like 3d footprint or whatever, but customizable views, flasher mode, traditional sonar mode, its all there. Speed may be a difference, but to me the GPS is a bigger deal (or lack thereof) than speed.

Nah, it's the Apple method.

Release something really cool that all the fanatics will rush out to get right away. Then a few months later release the same thing but with a new feature.

Why is a Cadillac more than a KIA?

Cadillacs are more expensive because Cadillac charges more grin Just like the flashers, both a Cadillac and a Kia will get you to your destination [get the job done], you just look a lot cooler doing so in the Cadillac wink

Why are ice fisherman so cheap? whistle

Because spending $1500-2000 on Side/scan technology in the summer and spending $700 for a flasher in the winter gets you some REALLY REALLY REALLY expensive fish!

Some company needs to come out with a base unit that you can tie on different transducers for ice/summer/side imagine/down imaging/cameras/gps! ONE UNIT!!! So stupid that companies can't(excuse me..WON'T) do this...though HDS is close!

Cheap? So, spending $500 on a flasher, another $750 on a portable, $3,000 on a snowmobile to pull your portable, $400 on an auger, $100 on a heater, and another $500 in rods and tackle is cheap? Heck, ice-fishermen pump more money into the economy than just about any other type of sportsmen do.

GPS would be a neat option but in reality how practical would it be to use over a hand held that fits in your pocket for ice fishing. I'll have one for sure and will have it for many years, I look at it as an investmant. I spent $600 on an auger a few years ago and might well be the last I ever buy. Will I use the LX-7 on the boat, nope not an option for my style of fishing in the boat, same reason I won't use my HDS units on the ice.....

grin They also pump more trash into the lakes.

Which costs more?

OK, so not a fair comparison. My point being it is not uncommon to see $2k+ electronics on boats. Granted, the electronics on boats are of better technology, but you can't tell me that ice fishing costs more than the average open water boat fisherman spends.

The seats in most newer boats cost more than the majority of people's complete ice fishing set-up...Come on.

If you think every fishermen has a $40,000 boat and another $2,000 in electronics, you are sadly mistaken.
I think his comment was made in jest to your post regarding "Heck, ice-fishermen pump more money into the economy than just about any other type of sportsmen do."

I ice fish a lot, I also hunt, etc. I spend FAR more money on summer fishing than hunting, then there is a very wide gap to ice fishing. I have a new auger, a nice fishhouse, and a good flasher, but even if I bought these things new every year I probably wouldnt touch what I spend in the summer on fishing. Gas alone for my boat I have spent $300 this year.

That's pumping (no pun intended) money into the economy. Not counting gas for my truck, bait, line, lures, etc.

Wow, listing those things out just made me depressed. LOL

    • It’s done automatically.  You might need an actual person to clear that log in stuff up.   Trash your laptop history if you haven’t tried that already.
    • 😂 yea pretty amazing how b o o b i e s gets flagged, but they can't respond or tell me why I  can't get logged in here on my laptop but I can on my cellular  😪
    • I grilled some brats yesterday, maybe next weekend will the next round...
    • You got word censored cuz you said        B o o b ies….. haha.   Yeah, no… grilling is on hiatus for a bit.
    • Chicken mine,  melded in Mccormick poultry seasoning for 24 hours.  Grill will get a break till the frigid temps go away!
    • we had some nice weather yesterday and this conundrum was driving me crazy  so I drove up to the house to take another look. I got a bunch of goodies via ups yesterday (cables,  winch ratchet parts, handles, leaf springs etc).   I wanted to make sure the new leaf springs I got fit. I got everything laid out and ready to go. Will be busy this weekend with kids stuff and too cold to fish anyway, but I will try to get back up there again next weekend and get it done. I don't think it will be bad once I get it lifted up.    For anyone in the google verse, the leaf springs are 4 leafs and measure 25 1/4" eye  to eye per Yetti. I didnt want to pay their markup so just got something else comparable rated for the same weight.   I am a first time wheel house owner, this is all new to me. My house didn't come with any handles for the rear cables? I was told this week by someone in the industry that cordless drills do not have enough brake to lower it slow enough and it can damage the cables and the ratchets in the winches.  I put on a handle last night and it is 100% better than using a drill, unfortatenly I found out the hard way lol and will only use the ICNutz to raise the house now.
    • I haven’t done any leaf springs for a long time and I can’t completely see the connections in your pics BUT I I’d be rounding up: PB Blaster, torch, 3 lb hammer, chisel, cut off tool, breaker bar, Jack stands or blocks.   This kind of stuff usually isn’t the easiest.   I would think you would be able to get at what you need by keeping the house up with Jack stands and getting the pressure off that suspension, then attack the hardware.  But again, I don’t feel like I can see everything going on there.
    • reviving an old thread due to running into the same issue with the same year of house. not expecting anything from yetti and I already have replacement parts ordered and on the way.   I am looking for some input or feedback on how to replace the leaf springs themselves.    If I jack the house up and remove the tire, is it possible to pivot the axel assembly low enough to get to the other end of the leaf spring and remove that one bolt?   Or do I have to remove the entire pivot arm to get to it? Then I also have to factor in brake wire as well then. What a mess   My house is currently an hour away from my home at a relatives, going to go back up and look it over again and try to figure out a game plan.           Above pic is with house lowered on ice, the other end of that leaf is what I need to get to.   above pic is side that middle bolt broke and bottom 2 leafs fell out here is other side that didnt break but you can see bottom half of leaf already did but atleast bolt is still in there here is hub assembly in my garage with house lowered and tires off when I put new tires on it a couple months ago. hopefully I can raise house high enough that it can drop down far enough and not snap brake cable there so I can get to that other end of the leaf spring.
