Berkley Trilene XL

What's your thoughts on Berkley Trilene XL line?

great line. time tested and I rarely use any other type of line for mono. The old saying holds true, "if it ain't broke, don't fix it"

It's great for shallow jigging. I use the 6lb stuff a lot for that. I've tried other stuff, and I keep coming back to old Trilene XL.

This is the only line I ever use.

I use 10lb on all of my linecounters for trolling walleyes. Main reason: that's the line used in the depth curves in the Precision Trolling book. Since that book came out I just know what baits run what depth with 10lb Triline XT.

I also use the leftovers from spooling the linecounters for tying spinners/crawler harnesses. Nice way to use up ALL of the line.

I've had great success with it...mostly 6lb for walleyes and 20lb for northerns and muskies.

Longtime XL guy here, too. I've been spooling with it since it first came out. I've experimented with others, but not for long. It's the only mono I use winter or summer unless I need a abrasion resistance, which is almost never.

Six, 8, 12 and 14 lb are my big four. Nowadays I just keep an eye on the sales and buy the bulk spools.

Tried many brands over the last 30 years, one thats always on my go to rods is XL.

For some reason unknown I had a lot of breakoffs with it and went back to stren. That was some time ago.

Nowdays I mostly use braid.

Hey, it's fishing line, it needs to be trustworthy, I can still land the fish with a broken rod and/or reel, the same cannot usually be said of line.

XL has earned my trust, surely a fence sitter such as yourself can understand that. (snicker..snicker.......)

Everything needs to be trustworthy. Most things are not. XL is one of those things you can trust no matter which direction you swing.
