The next coach of the MN Gophers football team will be.....

Well.... in my dreams I hope for Tony Dungy. A guy who is the ultimate good person(which is more important to the U of M than anything). Can go into any living room and express all the great values and principles parents hope for in their kids. Beg him to come ressurect a program in shambles and work for 3-4 years and find his successor for a smooth transition. Like I said, in my dreams that is my plan.....

I really think the guy at NDSU would be a great hire. I don't care about name recognition and such and at this point, we should be happy to get a guy who is recruiting the guys who SHOULD be playing for the Gophers.... but I have no idea who it really could be..... however I am willing to bet, we really won't know who the heck he is when he is hired....

I've already heard that Dungy has said that he won't coach the Gophers. That's a rumor and I don't know if it's true since I can't find the statement anywhere.

I don't have a specific name in mind but do like the approach used by Notre Dame, taking a successful coach from the mid-majors and bringing him up to the big time.

It's not going to matter much who the coach is with how this current Administration runs the FB program.

Again I do understand the frustration from being mediocre at best for the last 43 years to being really brutal this season but it was bound to happen...... smile

Go Gophs!

I would love to see Mark Farley from Northern Iowa get the call. He is from my home town in Iowa and is a great recruiter, coach, and a great person. He has been stealing kids from MN and IA the past few years. Problem is, UNI is his alma mater and he is running a top notch program down there and I don't think the U could steal him away....

Picks, Don't be bringing up Farley's name any more!!!!! I am sure UNI is getting calls about him quite often .

Maybe he has seen how well it worked out for Terry Allen in Kansas and Craig McDermot at ISU and he realizes he has a pretty good thing going on in Cedar Falls

Isn't there rumor that Maturi is going to retire soon? If so, next AD hopefully can find a dedicated coach and not have a revolving coaching staff. There are enough former coaches in college/pros that may be interested. Don't think U can go thru another Brewster type with no head coaching experience. Hindsight says Mason wasn't all that bad, just not good enough to get to that next level. Brewster couldn't even be at Mason's level and took the U back below. What about Mike Tice? Think he might like college life? He is a good motivator/teacher.

Mike Grant please!

I'd give him a shot! Otherwise I do like the coach that has had success in the mid majors. If you can win there with the "inferior" talent, then you should be able to hack it.

Please... NO MIKE GRANT. I'm sure the guy is a good football coach, but you have to understand he is coaching the BEST talent in MN. He doesn't have to RECRUIT anybody and to go from being a Head Football Coach at Eden Prairie to the Head Coach of a Big Ten football team is WAY TOO MUCH.

We need a guy who CAN recruit, not supposedly recruit like Brewster. We also need a guy who has a track record of building a program or programs from scratch. The issue is still going to come down to the U throwing more money than they want at a guy to get him here AND letting their personal standards slide a bit.... focusing on the football coach as much as the person, if not a lot more...

Mike Tice's name has been thrown out a lot on KFAN. It's an interesting thought.

I don't have a specific guy in mind, but in my opinion it would help if he was a somewhat household name here in MN. We produce some great football players every year but our best talent doesn't want to come here and it's hard to blame them. If we can start keeping the Santreal Henderson's and Michael Floyd's here we could build a decent program.

Tice is not eligible because he has no college degree which is a U of M requirement.

Lots of speculation on Harbaugh from Stanford if we can pry him away, Richt from Georgia if he gets fired, or Golden from Temple as an up and comer.

Hopefully we learned from this and will spend the money on an experienced coach next time.

Coach, I think that this is wrong. Brewster was and still is a strong recruiter. He got some pretty good guys to come here but was never able to develop them into better players once they arrived. That was his biggest problem. At Texas he was selling Mack Brown and the program. At Minnesota he was selling himself and the new stadium. That worked for the first two years until everyone realized that he was not a good coach and players did not flourish/blossom under his coaching. Therefore, recruiting went downhill and the program followed like a caboose. The guy is selling worthless trinkets now and that's the biggest problem. I still believe that he's a good recruiter but he needs a good product to sell. He let his product rot and now it all stinks.

    • By The way that didn't work either!! Screw it I'll just use the cellular.
    • It’s done automatically.  You might need an actual person to clear that log in stuff up.   Trash your laptop history if you haven’t tried that already.
    • 😂 yea pretty amazing how b o o b i e s gets flagged, but they can't respond or tell me why I  can't get logged in here on my laptop but I can on my cellular  😪
    • I grilled some brats yesterday, maybe next weekend will the next round...
    • You got word censored cuz you said        B o o b ies….. haha.   Yeah, no… grilling is on hiatus for a bit.
    • Chicken mine,  melded in Mccormick poultry seasoning for 24 hours.  Grill will get a break till the frigid temps go away!
    • we had some nice weather yesterday and this conundrum was driving me crazy  so I drove up to the house to take another look. I got a bunch of goodies via ups yesterday (cables,  winch ratchet parts, handles, leaf springs etc).   I wanted to make sure the new leaf springs I got fit. I got everything laid out and ready to go. Will be busy this weekend with kids stuff and too cold to fish anyway, but I will try to get back up there again next weekend and get it done. I don't think it will be bad once I get it lifted up.    For anyone in the google verse, the leaf springs are 4 leafs and measure 25 1/4" eye  to eye per Yetti. I didnt want to pay their markup so just got something else comparable rated for the same weight.   I am a first time wheel house owner, this is all new to me. My house didn't come with any handles for the rear cables? I was told this week by someone in the industry that cordless drills do not have enough brake to lower it slow enough and it can damage the cables and the ratchets in the winches.  I put on a handle last night and it is 100% better than using a drill, unfortatenly I found out the hard way lol and will only use the ICNutz to raise the house now.
    • I haven’t done any leaf springs for a long time and I can’t completely see the connections in your pics BUT I I’d be rounding up: PB Blaster, torch, 3 lb hammer, chisel, cut off tool, breaker bar, Jack stands or blocks.   This kind of stuff usually isn’t the easiest.   I would think you would be able to get at what you need by keeping the house up with Jack stands and getting the pressure off that suspension, then attack the hardware.  But again, I don’t feel like I can see everything going on there.
