I've seen a lot of evidence from pike and muskies to lead me to believe that this pic is not one (not just bait evidence but my hands at times). I would assume most fisherman have. No way its an esox of either kind. Unless it was a last month of its life toothless pike. The mouth shape isn't even close either.

SUMO MEOW!

I see that every now and then with channels of just less than 20 inches. I use to always think they were scuffed from the fighting, but the more I see it, the more it resembles a bite mark.

I've heard of them southern folks using 14-15 inches channels as baits.

I have seen similar marks before, including one on a decent sized flat that could have only come from an unbelievable sized flat.

I wondered if it wasn't a wound that happened when the fish was considerably smaller and just stretched out as the fish grew.

the wound on dtro's fish looks pretty fresh though.
