or some orange trebles smile

i was on Lake of the Isles in the canoe and there was a drake mallard flapping and struggling to beat the band, yet he was going backwards

a giant snapper had latched onto his feet and was trying to drag him under. I wanted to see what would happen but a ton of people were watching so we felt obligated to set the duck free. it took off and promptly flew into the windows of one of those huge mansions. oops

I guess it was it's time. Can't fool mother nature smile

Turtles are pretty tough on ducklings. Fish will pretty much eat anything they can get their mouth around though. A resort owner I used to know on Lake of the Woods found a dead 35 lb muskie with a muskrat in its stomach that had clawed its way about half way out before it finally drowned. Must have been quite a case of heartburn... If I recall the Iowa state record muskie had two terns in its gut when it was cleaned by the taxidermist. I have first-hand experience (very smelly, very messy and very hard to get out of the boat carpet experience...) of a muskie [PoorWordUsage] black feathers all over the place on a lake that was covered with coots in the fall, and several others I know that fish the lake have similar stories....

I caught a muskie that had a horse in its stomach. Can't find the pics though.

Bahahaa....

Most muskie fisherman would say the important question would be: "What color was the horse??"

There are some really good picks of a pike at a Deer River bait store that is like leechbaits pic but instead of a sucker its a fully featherd adult mallard If I remember right there was three really good picks of it and the next time I'm in that area I will snap a few pics of them for you guys.

As a kid some friends and I caught a 16 lb pike and it got cleaned it had a couple of 2 or 3 pound sheephead in its belly. It came out of the sandcreek back in the day.

80% of the lures on the market today catch fishermen and not fish.

Having said that, I have a duckling lure that I have yet to catch a fish with. I bought it shortly after I saw a pike come aboot half his body length out of the water to get a duckling. I've also seen duckling disappear to what I think was a snapping turtle.

I've been bit by pike while wading.

They will take a bite out of anything.

Bolt a treble hook to a cinder block, drag it through the mud after ice out and you may just catch a pike.

I saw a squirrel on a river bank trying to reach a pine cone that was out in the water a little ways sitting on a rock. The squirrel was reaching as far as he could and was just touching the pine cone when there was this huge splash and thrashing next to the shore line. When all settled down squirrel was gone. After the water calmed back down and things got quiet again here comes this musky and ever so gently it put another pine cone on the rock....:)

My dad caught a 51" muskie 2 years ago that had a full grown muskrat in its belly.

i remember when i was a kid up in duluth we ate what we cought. my parents did'nt have much money and worked hard for what they earned. i guess i was in my 30's when my friends showed me by example to realease large fish even though we did not have the regulations that we have today. we can only teach our kids and grandkids by example so their children can enjoy this awsome thing we call fishing. they paid for a licence and its leagal even though i would not do it. good luck.

If you look very close I believe the fish that nabs this poor little duckling is a Northern. I am not sure if it is a muskie though. Looks to have northern marking to me? Could be some European strain of pickerel also??
