Almost 2 weeks into the season and Young has the second highest batting average on the team. WOW

At .346, who'd of guessed? He's still scary in the outfield.

Its great to see he doing well I will be the first to say I had my doubts on him. To me it seem like he is more comfortable with the team actually having fun. Hope that bat of his stays hot, and not to many fly balls go his way. Im still hesidant on his fielding/throwing.

You're starting to sound like Sled!..LOL!

Nice thing about Majeres struggling right now, like ALL relief pitchers do at sometime or another is Dunseng and Mayhey can do the job until Majeres regains is ALL Star form of last year!

Tough day for the Punto haters also... grin

Its tough to hate a guy that comes to play everyday (Punto). Yes the batting average is nothing to get excited about... ever. But he will not hurt you in the field and if ever needed could play 2nd or Short as well. It also seems like about 1 in every 10 games Punto really has a nice day at the plate (explains that ~200 avg.) I can't hate a guy who works hard and plays the game the way he does. What he lacks in talent he makes up for in heart!

The throw was a bit off but Mauer bailed him out so all is well.

I think thats funny, pier. I also think it is funny he has our only error this year, coming off a throw to mauer that glances of the foot of the runner, a pretty dam good throw but it was "off a bit". Hard to throw down the middle of the plate for 200 feet.

Just trying to defend punto here, but if you look at the last 5 years (since he's gotten 300 ABs or more), he hit .280+ every other year which is in my books a great BA, especially for a guy in the 9th spot. And the best part about it is he's due for a good season this year again wink

This is how I rate Delmon:

Normal fly Ball - Excellant (Should be)

Gap fly ball - OK

Short fly ball - OK

Wall/warning track fly ball - Oh-oh (He's afraid of all walls)

Line Drive - Freezes like a deer in the head lights.

Horrible rating. Sorry. Even on a routine fly ball I have seen him stop 2 feet short and let it fall at his shoes. The other fly ball ratings you gave him are way off as well. His defense is among the worst I have ever seen out of a major leaguer. But his bats come around, so I guess I will put up with it another year. He has some of the most OF assists for a reason, it isn't people running on him and him gunning them out. Yes, he has done that a couple times. It is people having to stand on their base and waiting to tag then the ball falls in and he throws them out

Defense is greatly Improved this season among other things like attitude and the great physical shape he showed up in!

But IMO the biggest change for Delmon is his plate patience so far. He has gone from having the worst Strike-out to walk ratio in the league to a pretty decent one and like it or not folks he's on his way to being a pretty darn good all around player!

Delmon should play every day. He can show the other fielders how to not let flies drop infront of them..................

That play last night between Span and Cuddyer happens alot. My guess is both were calling for it, then they each heard footsteps and backed off. If it weren't for that, either would have had it pretty easily.

They need to stop putting Kubel in the line up against righties.

It's tough having Kubes in the field he's our worst out-fielder by a large margin.

And truthfully as scary as Delmon can be in the field he is better at running catches than Kubes by a long shot.

Hmmm... I can't get behind that statement. A "large margin" is a stretch... I'm not saying Kubel will ever be a Span or Cuddyer out there, but he has had some nice plays, no errors, and I don't think he has missed any plays in left the Delmon would have gotten (in other words, he didn't miss a put out or assist that Young would have converted). Young is faster, granted, but I don't think there is a big gap between him and Kubel, IMO.
