Closer - Rauch or Liriano?

Liriano will start the year as a starter. That is what he wants, and if it works out, it is best for the team. Rauch, or Slama will be our closer come opening day, but if they dont work out, we have other options, including picking a closer up mid season.

I think it's gonna be closer by committee for a while till someone steps up and takes the job. I see Guerrier as the guy who probably ends up with it.

I like Liriano myself but he's probably gonna be more helpfull pitching 200 innings as opposed to 60.

If Guerrier ends up as our closer I'll never watch the 9th inning ever again! My poor heart won't be able to handle the strain eek Between him and crain I can't begin to count the number of games they've blown over the years.

Just for the record.... last year Guerrier had 33 holds. That is tied for the 6th best season of all time....

I guess I could live with that...

A hold could be one pitch..... but a save could be one pitch just as easily.

Most closers have two things in common... good stuff and they throw that stuff for strikes...

Guerrier has pretty good stuff AND he throws it for strikes. He isn't a flame thrower, but I'll take the guy who throws it over the plate and down over a flame thrower who always leaves it up like Crain.

i dont want to see crane or guerrier ever in the closer role, my heart hurts when i see them on the field, yea they are good somesimtes and other times its like watching a little leaguer pitch to barry bonds. i would rather see rauch out there

Don't mind the thought of Guerrier closing for now. I think Rauch is a likely candidate or they will trade for someone but probably not before the season starts.

As long as Crain and Liriano aren't closing I think I could live with it! Crain has scared me since day one even when he is pitching well I still feel like he will blow it.

I'm a Liriano fan but he scares me and I don't think he is mentally ready to take on that role. I think he has the stuff to be a dominant closer because he does very well facing batters the first time through a lineup its the 2nd and 3rd at bats that usually give him troubles. Could he be a closer...? YES, but I hope they give him a chance to take the #5 starter and hopefully he'll run with it!

MAYBE THE TWINS CAN JUST SCORE A TON OF RUNS AND WE WON'T HAVE TO WORRY ABOUT SAVES! smile

That's waht I'm hoping for. Score 6 or 8 runs a game and don't worry about it! grin

That will only work if our pitchers dont give up 7-9 runs a game wink

    • got this tackled today took about 3 hours to get both sides done. Didnt even get to use a torch....   Thought I was golden with just jacking it up and I could get to everything but no luck. Had to remove the entire axle hub and brake assembly to get to what I needed. Was a pain but still better then taking off the entire pivot arm.    Axle bearings were already greased and in great shape thankfully. Got both leaf springs installed and its ready for the road again.   Probably going to have my electric brakes checked, I am not touching anything with the brake drums. Based on what I saw it doesn't look like my electric brakes have been working anyway. Brakes are nice to have if its slippery out
    • By The way that didn't work either!! Screw it I'll just use the cellular.
    • It’s done automatically.  You might need an actual person to clear that log in stuff up.   Trash your laptop history if you haven’t tried that already.
    • 😂 yea pretty amazing how b o o b i e s gets flagged, but they can't respond or tell me why I  can't get logged in here on my laptop but I can on my cellular  😪
    • I grilled some brats yesterday, maybe next weekend will the next round...
    • You got word censored cuz you said        B o o b ies….. haha.   Yeah, no… grilling is on hiatus for a bit.
    • Chicken mine,  melded in Mccormick poultry seasoning for 24 hours.  Grill will get a break till the frigid temps go away!
    • we had some nice weather yesterday and this conundrum was driving me crazy  so I drove up to the house to take another look. I got a bunch of goodies via ups yesterday (cables,  winch ratchet parts, handles, leaf springs etc).   I wanted to make sure the new leaf springs I got fit. I got everything laid out and ready to go. Will be busy this weekend with kids stuff and too cold to fish anyway, but I will try to get back up there again next weekend and get it done. I don't think it will be bad once I get it lifted up.    For anyone in the google verse, the leaf springs are 4 leafs and measure 25 1/4" eye  to eye per Yetti. I didnt want to pay their markup so just got something else comparable rated for the same weight.   I am a first time wheel house owner, this is all new to me. My house didn't come with any handles for the rear cables? I was told this week by someone in the industry that cordless drills do not have enough brake to lower it slow enough and it can damage the cables and the ratchets in the winches.  I put on a handle last night and it is 100% better than using a drill, unfortatenly I found out the hard way lol and will only use the ICNutz to raise the house now.
