wolfman-k
Hi everyone-I'm wolfman-k & I'm a ducer-puller, too. It takes a litle practice, but after a while, it will just come natural. monstermoose78
stumper
I hang my ducer as close to the center of the hole as I can. If and when the fish wraps around the cable, the ducer will unwrap its self from the line if you hold it there a second. This of course wont work with a float. jigginjim
I have my cord hanging close to the side not using the float. I still have to pull the ducer once in a while. I agree a second hole would really help, But have things go down one hole that only doubles the problem. Now if some one could make a 3" auger blade for on power augers, the ducer could go down that hole.
benbosh
TSchultz. I used to do something similar, but, since I often fish with my dog, I decided to give it up and just cut the cord. I lost two good labs from them jumping down the hole to retrieve whatever was shot and couldn't find their way back up...just wasn't cost effective even against the 8lb. Eelpout one once brought up. I think I may have caught one of your dogs the other day, but i released it.. Thought it was a nice pike on the line but it was just a dogfish. bak2MN
I cut another hole next to the one i fish in.
IcePro
My Million Dollar Idea.Wireless transducer, someday it will be here. Boar
cabin
Pull the transducer up is pretty easy.If you get tired of that you can take the float off. The transducer will lay against the side of the hole. Eliminates almost all tangles. You should still be able to see your lure.
LightningBG
How about this for an idea. Got my thinkin' cap on this morning. I've never done this, but its an idea. BTW. If anyone starts commercially manufacturing these, I want a cut. Should give a nice steady pull speed without any jerking. Would eliminate the need for a float (while in use). As it got towards the end of the pull it would move it to the side towards the wall. This would be best suited in a Perm obviously.
Fredd
like others have said, keep as near the bottom of the ice as possible. never had this problem with the fixed arm on the old Clearwater Classic
broken_line
come fish here in sw mn... you wont catch anyfish to worry about it happening lol
jjohnson5150
I throw away the float. It's worthless IMO. I also cut an extra hole if I have space.
jwhjr
I don't put the transducer past the bottom of the ice and pull it out while reeling in if needed. Hasn't really been an issue either way.
BriGuy88
And I thought that was only happening on the lakes I've been fishing this year!
croixflats
My Million Dollar Idea.Wireless transducer, someday it will be here. I had one of those. sadly its at the bottom of the river after I moved my Northlander to another spot forgetting to pull the transducer out of the hole. Needs a bit of work because it never did work as a wireless.
hydro
I just cut a second hole next to the one I fish out of. Drop in the xducer and put the sonar case on top of the hole. Saves space and covers the hole. I don't use a giant auger drill, so the sonat covers the hole nicely.
CrappieAttitude
I got rid of the float and just hang it as tight to the side of the hole as I can. Making sure that it is not dangling below the ice is a key factor in eliminating the tangles. CA
zamboni
I have a MarCum and don't have a hunk of styrofoam, so I don't worry about it

monstermoose78
Cool Idea, but I just cut a second hold next to the one I am fishing.
Chaws
only thing i have seen so far http://www.fish-eez.com/fish-eez-ice-fishing-tool-for-electronics.htmlSeen those at the St Paul ice show. Would work ok until you have a fish run to the side of your hole. Then not only are you tangled in your ducer but also a 5 foot long piece of pvc. Boar
My Million Dollar Idea. bturck
Don't have your transducer deeper than the depth of ic, no reason to. Very seldom do I have a problem. If it's the dead stuck, I'll still transducer before the set Boar
