DTro
It was a great day on the ice today. Just wanted to thank everyone for participating. Special thanks to everyone who brought along eats and treats and those that sacrificed their warm hands for the fish fry. Borch and Icehawk cook up a mean kitty! This event could not be a success without the help of all of you. Also thanks to Moores Bait and Tackle for donating a Team Catfish shirt and some Stink Bait. Both of which went to the youngster in the bottom picture for that great fish! The actual fishing was anywhere from slow to incredible depending on where your house was set up at Nice to see and talk to everyone, I apologize if I missed saying Hi to anyone (there was a big crowd). Flaco651
My group didn't do that well this time, but we had a good time. Just leaving Cold Spring now. We were thinking about finding a room up here some where, because we didnt get much sleep and then we could do some fishing again in the morning. Thanks to all that put this on and made it a success. DTro
Flaco, I hope you did a quick "drive by" of the house that was catching all the fish. I know I did. Good Luck if you head out there tomorrow.
riverrat56
It was a real good time out on the ice!Fishing was beyond slow for me, I did have a bite or two that I didn't capitalize on, but thats how it goes....Does the cat bite pick up later into March? I've got an itch to get back out there once more...
NTW
Dtro & Borch it was great meeting both of you. This was our group's first G2G and even though the fishing was on and off we had a blast. We really appreciated getting the opportunity to eat some cats on the ice thanks to the generous guys who cleaned and fried them up, hats off! DTro
Does the cat bite pick up later into March? I've got an itch to get back out there once more... Yes, the bite will continue to get better until ice out. As you seen, once you get on them, you really get on them. There were plenty that didn't catch one and yet a house that iced over 20 right in the middle of everyone.
Flaco651
We did a late drive by after the CO stopped by, nothing but rock bass. We're heading back now, otherwise there might be a couple unhappy ladies to deal with tomorrow. Might get out locally in the morning though. walleyehunter80
yes I must say it was a blast out there, and I even landed my first cat through the ice.I would have liked to clean more than 3 fish but the fingers were as froze as the fish they were holding on to!Next year I will try to have a mess tent lined up that will have a wood burner in it for cooking and getting a plate of food, but more so for the fish to keep from freezing and the fingers that are cleaning them.Next year I will even designate myself as all time fish cleaner (as long as I can have a hole with a line down it under the cleaning table) since you guys showed me how easy it was to clean them.take care and thanks again for an awesome day, I will not miss this event in the future!! Borch
What a great time! Some very nice cats were landed with plenty for a nice fish fry. Even though the cold weather made it a bit more difficult to get the fry done with many guys pitching in it went smoothly. Thanks to everyone who took a turn cleaning fish or thawing them out for those cleaning.I really enjoyed the great stories and meeting both new faces as well as old friends.I was alot of fun hering the excited voices and drags screaming in the "hot" house. Congrats to you guys on an inpressive days fishing!I can't wait until next year!
IceHawk
Well fun as always. Great to see some old friends and to meet some new ones. The cattin was alright if you were in the right area. I saw a fair amount iced in the area I was at. I know I heard some drags squelling and some excitement a few times next to me (the hot houses). Nice to see some new folks get their first cat. Hope everyone had a good time and got a chance to sample some fried cats, they are as they would say the cat's meow! Thanks everyone who helped out with cleaning fish etc and for everyone who brought food. I Had a great time with alot of good laughs and I am looking forward to next yr's event already! Good to just be up there and shooting the breeze with everyone.

nytelyter
this event is a must on the calendar every year for me was there early caught some nice kitties and missed a few nice opportunities on a few nite hits. great job on the cleaning and cooking and kudos to dtro for organizing the event again this year. and a thanks to everyone that did a nice job cleaning up after themselves. i know i left before the events end, but the areas that were moved out of by then were (except for the holes)were left with only footprints . and a few dead minnows for the birds to feast on. see you again next year. ... paul
shorefisher
Will this was the best fishing outing for me and my group this year and maybe many years. We were the "hot" house and all 4 of us got our first cat through the ice! And my buddys son got a prize for the big one (Thank you so much for that made a great day for him even better). We ended the day around 4:30 with a total of 29 for the day. The bait of choice was a hook with 1/4 chunk of sucker on it. Can't thank you all enough for putting this on! Bottle Fish
dtro I was really looking forward to meeting you and some others on here as well. I'm sorry I didn't get a chance to run around and chat with anyone it seems I went with someone who really wasn't in the mood to do much of anything. I'll be going solo next year and make sure I get a chance to meet a few people. We were there around 8 and only stayed till 10. Again didn't mean to be anti-social I just came with the wrong guy for fishing. I'll be there next year alone. See you all next year. At least I got to see a few cats get iced. This was my first year attending and it won't be my last. Thnaks again, See ya next year.
The Chemist
Well, I must say .....It had been along time... 3 yrs is too long to wet aline and see some familiar faces also to meet some new ones. Saturday night I saw something I had never seen in all the time I've fished cats. They were coming in between 6-10 ft and then going down to 14-15ft where my jig was and biting. after missing 6 I put on ice busters and the next one I watched go down lifted the bobber and bang a 26in cat. Ended the night with a 26, 2 22in. and a 20in. Also released some 14in. Right after the last group left the vex lit up like a x-mas tree from 10-15ft but never found out what it was.Dtro- thanks for coordinating everything,Borch and Icehawk- thanks for cookingAs I ended up pulling off Sunday afternoon and I had went around to inspect I didn't see garbage laying around. Great job all....
Gordie
sounds like a really great time and I'm so bummed I couldnt make it I would of much rather been staring down a hole even the cats wernt biting than putting a head gasket in my truck that still is given me problem Well I'll say it again that there is always next year.
