i would guess a spearing hole the way the hole looks and with the sight of other spear holes near by.....but I agree ice is never 100% safe

Would that be on the Northeast corner of the island, as there is a spring out there, that has in the past be the latest part to freeze, so to speak. Also directly north of that spot heading towards the public landing has in the past been a bad spot.

It was obviously a spearing hole, not a SPRING.. that guy should have marked it.

I spear and I dont see it, but Im starting to believe some people dont like guys who spear... Most spearmen mark their holes, some dont and even I call those guys idiots and neglegent and they shouldnt be spearing if they cant be responsible!

A family member of mine lives on Rush Lake and has a spring in front of his place. It's about three feet deep there. It's usually open most of the year, can fit a five gallon bucket in and hard to see it if you don't know it's there.

speaking of spearing. you guys who do spear please break down your blocks. my friend hit one with her sled 350 buckss later it got fixed. spear block are very hard and very dangerous. please just break down the blocks.
