Brade04
What kind of jigs do you use for crappies? Not so much the plastics and artificials like shrimpos and ratsos but the hard jigs. What seems to work?
thenest
I've had good luck with a Little Cecil. But they are hard to find. I looked for two years. Found them in a town about 20 miles away. Might be easer to find in MN.
Chode2235
I really like the diamond jigs and gill pills. Also, gotta have some fat boys, genz worms and genz bugs.I do hear good things about the Bro series jigs too.
muc33
My favorite jig for crappie and gills is the tungsten Fiska Wolfram 3mm or 2mm red lady bug, white with black dots and the all black head. The nickle one is another that works good. The tungsten gets down much faster but still holds that size quality in the itsy bitsy stuff. I run with plastics and don't use live bait. Drewski
When I'm not using a forage minnow (which is hardly ever), i'll use a gill pill. They are one heck of a jig!
Craigums
Little Atom Optic Stealth has quickly become one of my favorites
we are 'the leading edge' HSO Creators Rick Posted January 14, 2009 we are 'the leading edge' HSO Creators Share Posted January 14, 2009 I gotta tell ya that the Outdoor Pro Series Flutter jigs have been out-producing all of my favorite standbys. Some mentioned above.Sometimes we get stuck in a rut with our old trusty confidence jigs. I know, I know, they do work.Every great once in a while something new that works even better comes along....I am impressed with the OPS Flutter jigs. Thunder
My tackle box could use an overhaul...I'd like to get rid of some of my current jigs in favor of some new ones I think. My favorite jig is by far a forage minnow - have had very good luck with them this year. ate1cropy
I second that Thunder... I love my forage minnows! Sometimes as the bite slows I will slow down as well and put down a shrimpo tipped with a larva. Usually gets a good responce. And I always get my bigger fish that way. mozy
I agree with the flutter jig comment. For whatever reason, that extra fluttering action really does it for negative or neutral crappie. I like the pink and white or black colors.
bustin lips
fiskas for sure. They have a little one with a treble hook. I rarely miss fish with this jig.the only bad thing is they are $3 a piece.
opsirc
what size forage do you use?
ASMOLEY
I always like to start out with a jigging spoon tipped with a few waxies or euro larve, quick action jig to draw fish in an weed out the little ones. If that doesn't seal the deal i like to down size to a tungsten Fiska Wolfram as mentioned earlier. The heavier and larger jigs allows me to cover ground quickly and setup on active fish. If they are real tight lipped Shirmpos have been my savior.
Fred_Bear
I really like small genz bugs or fat boys for gills.Never use anything but ratsos for crappie so can't help ya there
Bluegill1510
Wow alot of you guys like those shrimpos and ratsos, I've never had good luck with them period, so I don't use them as much. My favorite for crappies and nice bluegills is Genz worm made by Lindy with a plastic tail. They really do the trick, but I've been tying my own and they have been working well too. NWBuck
My favs would be diamond jigs, bro bugs and shrimpos. During open water if we're chasing pannies we use pilkies quite often as well.
