Unless I can pull a rabit out of my hat. I will have to see if I can do some magic. I would really like to bring the new Beavertail Jet up there and break her in with some HUGE SUMO Sturgies. I could have room for a few guys if I can make it.

Me and a buddy are having a discussion about tackle for the sturgeon. He feels strongly that lighter tackle did better last year. I don't necessarily disagree but wanted to get some input on what size leaders, hooks you use.

we use our musky rods with a leader of 30lb mono. the more important thing seems to be making sure your bait stays on the bottom. We use 2-4oz disc weights. Heading up the 23rd and expecting some good fishing.

I just read that Vidas is completely open and able to launch pretty much any sized boat. I looked at one of the weather sites and it looks like by the end of this coming week and next weekend that there should be some favorable weather for opening that beast up to the bay hopefully!

12 days and counting. With the better forcasts coming in, sturgeon being boated and the river going down. Looks like things are looking up.

Boat, rods and all other gear are ready to go.

Buddy who lives on Wabanica bay just called and told me there is now open water running thru the middle of the river out from there.

Wabanica bay is where the church/scout camp is. She'll open to the bay by weeks end at this rate!

We probably saw just as many sturgeon on as we did walleyes on Saturday. I was wondering, if anyone wanted another person in the boat on Sunday the 19th, I'll bring the bait for the day! I still have half a flat of crawlers and about 6 dozen preserved emeralds left and need to use 'em up!
