Deadliest Catch

Just watched the new one! That has to be the worst feeling in the world having a boat go down. Does anybody think there is any survivors? I personally think that they wouldn't be able to survive that many hours even if they were in suits. Sad thing to see though.

What a helpless feeling it must be... How about those coastguard guys??? Those guys are so cool!!!! How'd you like to ride in a chopper for 7 hours then jump into that cold water then have to ride 7 hours back??? These guys go through alot thats for sure. I really doubt that anyone could survive being in the water for 7 hours.. It wasn't a good sign seeing that empty life raft.. eek

When they were looking and saw the debris, and then realized it was a life boat, I said to my wife "Why on Earth would they have a black lifeboat?" That was pretty ridiculous. Great last 10 minutes of the show, even if it had little to do with crabbing. Tense and gripping.

Nice to see the Hilstrand boys cleaning up. Hope both Sig and the CornMar can get on to some, too. It was funny that he was getting advice from Phil, on land, from John Hilstrand, about where to go.

My DVR also quit recording early! Just as they are about to say if there was someone in the suit it stopped. Not good to hear that there was a person in that suit. With that empty lifeboat, I am not very optimistic that many of those men survived. And boy those Hilstrands are cleaning up! I wonder who is going to win the 1000$ dollar bet?

Mine did too! The diver was just putting his hands on the suit when the DVR stopped. mad So, I set the DVR for the 11pm showing and then FFW to the end when I got home today to see how it ended.

I think most if not all people who dvr this show will run into that issue this year. If you notice, the show runs anywere from 5 to 10 min long depending on the episode. Added segments means added advertizing income. This is a big one for discovery, and it takes a lot of $$$ in time and equipment to create it.

Awesome show, sad about the fishing boat that went down. My first thought was why the he!! was that boat 900 miles out? That seems like pretty far to me, but maybe thats where they needed to be. Seems like a huge risk on that sea. At least the crabbin boats are reachable by helicopter in an hour or so. Cant wait for next week!

Also makes you wonder why no other countrys sent out a rescue effort??? What about Russia??? Chiana?? What a bunch of dorks...

I didn't understand why they were so far out either. Correct me if I'm wrong but I think they said the boat was a Cod fishing boat. Well I remember a couple seasons ago when Sig and the boys fished for Cod in between King and Opie season and they were no more than 50 miles off Dutch Harbor.

Boy that sure sends chills down your spine when they show a body floating in the water like that. Sad to see.

I just watched the DVR, it recorded the whole thing. Very sad about the cod boat. 900 miles out, you think Russia woulda been close enough to get there sooner but I'm not sure. That has to put a huge rock in the gut of the coast guard guys. Nothing can be worse that that. Pulling up a body has to be horrible. I hope they find some survivors, but that long in that cold water is going to be hard. Why can't they ever get in the life boats?

I saw a preview of next weeks show and it looks like a few might of survived? They really didn't make it clear, I suppose they are building the drama up for next week

They reported that most of them are DOA. But that might have changed. I have not been home to see the previews for this next week!

Only 4 of the 11 made it from the way it sounds. Queit and ordeal from the sounds of it.

Didn't last years show start out with the sinking of the Alaska Ranger fish procesing ship? Guess if a person was looking for a job, you might want to stay away from those!

900 miles is long way out but the Aleutian Islands stretch over 900 miles to the west of Dutch Harbor. There is even an airstrip on Attu island. You would think that there would be a Coast Guard base closer than 7 hours away. Must be one heck of a fuel tank in that chopper.

    • got this tackled today took about 3 hours to get both sides done. Didnt even get to use a torch....   Thought I was golden with just jacking it up and I could get to everything but no luck. Had to remove the entire axle hub and brake assembly to get to what I needed. Was a pain but still better then taking off the entire pivot arm.    Axle bearings were already greased and in great shape thankfully. Got both leaf springs installed and its ready for the road again.   Probably going to have my electric brakes checked, I am not touching anything with the brake drums. Based on what I saw it doesn't look like my electric brakes have been working anyway. Brakes are nice to have if its slippery out
    • By The way that didn't work either!! Screw it I'll just use the cellular.
    • It’s done automatically.  You might need an actual person to clear that log in stuff up.   Trash your laptop history if you haven’t tried that already.
    • 😂 yea pretty amazing how b o o b i e s gets flagged, but they can't respond or tell me why I  can't get logged in here on my laptop but I can on my cellular  😪
    • I grilled some brats yesterday, maybe next weekend will the next round...
    • You got word censored cuz you said        B o o b ies….. haha.   Yeah, no… grilling is on hiatus for a bit.
    • Chicken mine,  melded in Mccormick poultry seasoning for 24 hours.  Grill will get a break till the frigid temps go away!
    • we had some nice weather yesterday and this conundrum was driving me crazy  so I drove up to the house to take another look. I got a bunch of goodies via ups yesterday (cables,  winch ratchet parts, handles, leaf springs etc).   I wanted to make sure the new leaf springs I got fit. I got everything laid out and ready to go. Will be busy this weekend with kids stuff and too cold to fish anyway, but I will try to get back up there again next weekend and get it done. I don't think it will be bad once I get it lifted up.    For anyone in the google verse, the leaf springs are 4 leafs and measure 25 1/4" eye  to eye per Yetti. I didnt want to pay their markup so just got something else comparable rated for the same weight.   I am a first time wheel house owner, this is all new to me. My house didn't come with any handles for the rear cables? I was told this week by someone in the industry that cordless drills do not have enough brake to lower it slow enough and it can damage the cables and the ratchets in the winches.  I put on a handle last night and it is 100% better than using a drill, unfortatenly I found out the hard way lol and will only use the ICNutz to raise the house now.
