CNCMike
open water...$20 monthhard water...$100 monthI never drink more than water when I fish and generally only eat pistachios on the water. so that is just the usual bait, lures, line, etc. Not factoring gas into the mix, of course. Still less than my wife's shoe habit and her $100 every 3 weeks haircut and style.
buddha
That is a tough question to answer. I filled up the boat last weekend and that has a 40gal tank, so hopefully that lasts a while. On a general weekend, not counting gas for truck or boat usually very cheap. It's all the stuff that comes with it, lures, new locator, general fixes on equipment can easily run into a couple thousand each year. Even without the locator it doesn't take much to spend cash in this hobby! I love every minute of it.
herm
Let's see, per trip, ....* Live bait - $10 a trip* Snacks/hooks/misc supplies - $15* Gas for the truck/boat - $30 and climbing* The smiles on my kids' and wife's faces when the bobber goes down - PRICELESS! Mlaker3
I am sure I spend $2000+ a year, some years $3000+, on fishing, not counting boat/motor/trailer. Ice fishing can be spendy too. Don't let me get started on waterfowl hunting (my real passion). Quality time I spend with my kids, and what am I working for? Don't tell my wife, but I think she knows already. shizzy
I really dont spend much. I have a canoe so I dont have to put gas in it. I usually spend around $50 or so on new lures and such for the season, but thats about it. I really only fish in the metro,so no huge investments in gas for my truck. fishgutz77
I used to drink about 400-500$ a month when I was young and smoked two packs of reds a day. I quite drinking 21 years ago and smoking 5 years ago.Even after spending 45K+ on a boat and electronics I'm still saving money fishing. It's part of what makes me not want to do other things that cost way more in the long run.I would say about 150-200$ a month now.
The_Lee
I would say, that I have spent about $250/month.Take it, I am newer to fishing so I am catching up on equipment and such.
hoggs222
It depends for me. Sometimes I'll get a hair up my a$$ and go out and buy a $400 rod/reel combo and other times it's just bait, gas, etc.Oh yeah! and a new net at trophy's when I forget it in the garage for some reason. Sandmannd
Way too much, gas is the big chunk though.
fishinJohn
No matter what I spend I could always use something else. For me it depends on how much I have at the time. I generally never regret it though, except when I put power pro on my first baitcaster, went to practice in the yard, went for a monstor cast with a heavy weight and formed a terrible snag and I still have to cut it off when I get a half hour. fishnhuntnboy
I have a feeling I am going to be spending a lot of money this summer. Not sure about each month. I have a feeling that I'm not going to be able to sell my car so I will most likely be going to gander and cabelas quite a bit and getting new rods/reels and more tackle. Like I need more. lol. Which I always need more.

snoozebutton
More then I should, but less then I'd like to. Agree!!! Are we counting boat payments? If not, then it's around $50 to $75.
YourBobersDown
my wife works at Gander Mountain and the employee discount is killing me. spent over $6,000 there last year and most of that was at 40% off or more. I think employee discount is an old indian word for make man spend more!

I think employee discount is an old indian word for make man spend more! They aren't dummies. Much better to pay your wife, give her a good discount and then you turn around and spend the money back to the store. So they really aren't paying her what they say they are That's the evil of working at a great store and why I can't work there or Cabelas. I'd be loosing money. saunasisu
I generally spend much more during the winter months leading up to the open water season with the cabin fever kicking in. To be honest, I have no idea how much I have spent and am afraid to check. Like one person wrote, "my biggest fear is when I die, my wife will sell my fishing gear for what I said I paid for it." SWMuskeye
Well over $100/mo. on gas/bait alone! Especially when the boat costs $100 to fill up as well as my truck! Like many others have said I can't leave a bait store without spending $20-50 on junk I don't need.I probably fish a minimum of 10 days a month though.... Come to think of it- $100/mo would be really light...I don't want to think about actual expenditures.
