Depending on how much you're looking to spend Costa del Mar and Maui Jim are both great. If you do a search on here they've been covered extensively in the past. A lot of it is personal preference. Both I mentioned are top of the line. I've got Maui Jim's and love them.

I have had my pair of Oakley A-Wire polarized glasses for 6 years now and they have a few treble hook scratches in them but they still work great. I wear them all the time. They are the amber lenses and even in low light periods they aren't too dark.

Another vote for Costa Del Mar's. You can't beat the quality of vision through a glass lens. I have a pair of Oakley's too, but they just don't measure up. The vision quality isn't as great but are nice shades none the less.

I'm an Oakley fan, besides having more than three polarized lense colors they make enough different frames to give you the coverage you need. I spend alot of time outside and the two pairs I use (Big Square Wires and Hijinx) fit close enough to my cheeks and wrap around so that very little glare gets into my eyes. BTW, they also sell this really cool water repelent stuff you put on the lenses.

I have a pair of the green-mirrored polarized glass Ocean Waves. They are awesome. Absolutely no eye fatigue after a day on the water. It is worth it to invest in one of the brands listed in this thread. I'm looking at getting something with amber lenses for cloudy conditions or maybe something with interchangable lenses.

The only pair of polarized sunglasses I've ever owned were when I was about 7 years old. Unfortunately now, I'd like to get some nice glasses for the utility of them but have a few I would like to consider before buying brand new ones, and see if they are polarized.

Is there a way to tell if sunglasses are polarized? I've been told that some things just 'look different' and some car windshields are also much different, but that doesn't help me too much \:\(

If you purchase them from a reputable dealer they should have something that will show you the difference when you look at it thru the glasses. Besides that, if the glasses don't have a tag stating that they are, they probably aren't.

The trick of holding two pairs at right angles so the light goes through both pairs still works. If the light transmission varies with the angle the two pairs are at, they are polarized.
