Yeah I love the C4 and the dark blue/gold color scheme is great. Just a little confused how to fix this backlash...

Fishing has been great, and before Sunday night my biggest Flat was around 10 lbs so these last two nights have been crazy with a 23, 24, and 29 lb fish. River is pretty low, but we just got poured on here in Mankato so it should go up a bit. I'm thinking this front coming through may be the reason for the bite last night.

Glad to hear that the Big Game holds up well. I just ordered some 50 lb Big Game mono last night at 4 AM after fishing and I kinda regret it now...

MW

You'll want to adjust the spool tension knob on the inside of the drag star. tighten it so when you hit the button your bait and weight drop a few inches and stop, keep it tight enogh so your line doesn't tangle and loose enough that it doesn't hinder casting performance. I wouldn't put the 50 lb momo on, not that it's a bad line it is a real pain to break off when you do snag. ok back to the flat pics

Time to get down to business and show you guys my rookie season big boys! Been fishing for Catfish for about 2 months now and my luck has gotten better recently. Caught the 24# fish on my 21st Golden B-Day Sunday which was a PB. Then shattered my new PB with a 29+# Flathead last night. In these pictures, my buddy is holding my fish and he is 260 lbs just for comparison.

Annoying Gar!

Same fish as the last one...

And last, but not least...my PB! (29# 6 oz.)

I did all that, but it was pitch black and it was hard to know when the bait hit the water.

Is there info on this forum about how to fix backlash?

Keep light pressure on the spool with your thumb, you don't have to let it hit the water use your thumb to slow it down.

They sure are fun to catch, keep up the time you are spending on the water, and you will be rewarded with even bigger. My 10 year son caught a 28#er this summer, imagine the work out he had to reel it in. He sure is proud of it, but I think if it was 29 #, I dont think he would have gotten it in.

Its one of those things that I never do and my wife picked up the entry form at mills and told me to fill it out and so I did and wouldnt you know it I won again with that flathead GOTTA LOVE BIG CATS now I have to head to MFF and buy cat gear with it.

Good to see someone's still hitting it! Surprising to see a 6 pounder being your smallest ever though! I have caught them as small as 18 inches long on live bullheads, and I've heard of them being caught as small as 10 inches or so.

What's up guys, I am Nick, I am the guy holding all the fish in MW ^^^ pictures ... we are both new to catfishing (and river fishing in general) but we're both officially hooked. So far my pb flathead this season is that 20 lb. flat you see up on this page. Hopefully we'll be able to meet up with some of you guys next season to learn a little from the experts lol

What's up buddy? I'de say we have a good list of Flatheads for just starting at the end of July. The first probably ten times we went out we were fishing in what is probably 3-5 feet deep, but regardless of no Catfish we still had fun with Gar and Carp. Once we realized where to look for a legit chance at Catfish, we started landing the Flats and learned quickly how to target them. I have learned just as much about fishing in the last three months as I have since I was a kid with a 3' Zebco Snoopy reel.

Been fun, but you still gotta catch and pass me!

I caught one (flathead) last season on worms that was about 8" had all the coloring of his big brothers just smaller.
