Jason Mitchell customer service

Eric Wettschreck

Recommended Posts

I was fishing Upper Red last weekend. While using my 28" Jason Mitchell walleye rod I set the hook on some kind of 2 ton heavy thing. Snap went the tip. I was bummed cuz I love this rod.

I e-mailed Jason Mitchell Rods to see what can be done to fix it. Jason himself called me, asked what happened, and told me a new one is in the mail. That fast, no problem.

Customer service has become a thing of the past. Not so much with Jason Mitchell rods. He took care of me. If you're interested in these rods you can find them right here.

I've also had fantastic customer service from them. I called to inquire about a rod they make, he said they've got them in stock and he will ship it ASAP. I asked about an order form and he took the info over the phone. I had it in 3 days. Great service and great products. Now I'm eyeballing one of his open water rods. That 8ft trolling rod sounds pretty sweet.

I already have 3 of his ice rods and am going to add another 1 or 2 before I trip I have planned in Feb. So far I've used them for everything from small, light-biting metro panfish to walleyes and pout on LOTW, and I really like the sensitivity, feel and power that comes in these rods. I don't have any problems or complaints with my rods.

He does offer a spring-bobber rod. Its an addition to his panfish rod. Check it out here

This is my new favorite spring bobber rod. Its nice and sensitive and the large guide in the spring bobber doesn't ice up like the other "slinky-type" springs. Very nice for hole hopping.

I've used the "Perch" model for Crappie, Perch and Walleye. If you are just going to buy one rod and wanted to use it for several species I would go with the 26" Perch Model. It is sensitive enough for Crappies and Perch yet has enough backbone to handle larger fish.

I have the Perch model, not the Walleye model, and used the Perch model a lot at LOTW in December. It's a great rod for the size walleyes and saugers that you usually catch there. I did catch one big fish on it ---- a 32 incher ---- and the rod handled it great. Unfortunately the 32 incher was a pout, not a walleye, but it was still lots of fun. I also used the Mitchell Spring Bobber rod for a while as my deadstick rod and that also worked fine for the fish I was catching.

I've been using the "MeatStick" and love thid rod. Very fast tip and it loads up quick for great hook sets. Completely happy with his products and for the money its hard to get a better deal........PERIOD. Looking forward to using the Walleye models I have this weekend hopefully.

Tight Lines all,

Steve

Really what makes a rod worth 40+ dollars, Ive been using some guide series rods that I really enjoy...but then see Jason mitchell for a little above 30, then some thorne bros rods around 40 or more......Is it just the components, guides, carbon shaft, cork handle?

Usually your more expensive rods have more quality in components etc. I ahve used some Gander rods and for the money they arent bad. They dont however have the best quality components.

The Thorne Brothers rods have very high quality blanks and guides and cork. Plus some very nice reel seats if you like seats on your rods.

The Jason Mitchell rods have some very unique actions for the price range and from what I have seen have pretty good components. I really like the Mackinaw spiral wrapped Med/heavy baitcaster rod for lakers and the meatstick will be a great deadstick and could double as a panfish rod with the limber tip but great backbone.

To each his own and if you like your Gander rods and they perform well for what you use them for thats cool. I would however tel you if you ever can get together with a FMer or anyone who owns some TB or Mitchell rods or any other higher end rods give them a try. You may find out you like them as well or even better.

    • got this tackled today took about 3 hours to get both sides done. Didnt even get to use a torch....   Thought I was golden with just jacking it up and I could get to everything but no luck. Had to remove the entire axle hub and brake assembly to get to what I needed. Was a pain but still better then taking off the entire pivot arm.    Axle bearings were already greased and in great shape thankfully. Got both leaf springs installed and its ready for the road again.   Probably going to have my electric brakes checked, I am not touching anything with the brake drums. Based on what I saw it doesn't look like my electric brakes have been working anyway. Brakes are nice to have if its slippery out
    • By The way that didn't work either!! Screw it I'll just use the cellular.
    • It’s done automatically.  You might need an actual person to clear that log in stuff up.   Trash your laptop history if you haven’t tried that already.
    • 😂 yea pretty amazing how b o o b i e s gets flagged, but they can't respond or tell me why I  can't get logged in here on my laptop but I can on my cellular  😪
    • I grilled some brats yesterday, maybe next weekend will the next round...
    • You got word censored cuz you said        B o o b ies….. haha.   Yeah, no… grilling is on hiatus for a bit.
    • Chicken mine,  melded in Mccormick poultry seasoning for 24 hours.  Grill will get a break till the frigid temps go away!
    • we had some nice weather yesterday and this conundrum was driving me crazy  so I drove up to the house to take another look. I got a bunch of goodies via ups yesterday (cables,  winch ratchet parts, handles, leaf springs etc).   I wanted to make sure the new leaf springs I got fit. I got everything laid out and ready to go. Will be busy this weekend with kids stuff and too cold to fish anyway, but I will try to get back up there again next weekend and get it done. I don't think it will be bad once I get it lifted up.    For anyone in the google verse, the leaf springs are 4 leafs and measure 25 1/4" eye  to eye per Yetti. I didnt want to pay their markup so just got something else comparable rated for the same weight.   I am a first time wheel house owner, this is all new to me. My house didn't come with any handles for the rear cables? I was told this week by someone in the industry that cordless drills do not have enough brake to lower it slow enough and it can damage the cables and the ratchets in the winches.  I put on a handle last night and it is 100% better than using a drill, unfortatenly I found out the hard way lol and will only use the ICNutz to raise the house now.
